Throughout this semester, I have been enrolled in UWRT 1104.

The class has taught me about

making arguments, how to do research not just for argumentation, but how to do research in
general. I have learned about connecting works and ideas together in this class, and that is what
reflection is about. Everyone has heard, how far you make it in life depends on your
connections, or something of that nature. People say this because it is so hard to do anything
without connections. I wouldnt be writing this reflection without my connection to this class. I
know thats not the best example of a connection being useful, but hear me out. To properly write
this reflection, I am going to have to connect parts of my experience in UWRT 1104 together to
show you, the reader, that I understand how important connections and collaborations are in
writing. I am going to have to show you why what I have done in this course makes sense. My
job here is to prove that I just havent been writing a collection of random works for my
professors amusement.
I have decided that I am going to show how my peer evaluations, link with my other classmates
works and how that links with my college experience.
Almost every weekend I went through the same struggle, going to work Friday and Saturday,
putting off my homework until very last minute, and submitting my UWRT assignments only a
few hours before they were due. Then I would have these documents that were written when I
was sleep deprived and in my prime creative state critiqued by one of my peers. This peer was
randomly assigned (I think) and would give me his best advice on my writing. With these peer
reviews, I did start to learn the names of some of my fellow classmates. Be it, I still dont know
everyone in the class, I have expanded my list of names of people I will likely not see again next
year. But by sarcastic remarks aside, I enjoyed getting to see learn how other people write. I liked
readying these peer reviews and seeing what people thought of my work. I found them useful.
Having to peer review my classmates also meant I got a little closer with some of them. This
gave me people to talk to when I was off task in class or I had given up on what we were
working on in class. These people that I met in my UWRT class also affected my college
experience as a whole. I would occasionally see some of my classmates outside of class and I
would even wave at some of them. These small interactions made it seem like I had more friends
than I actually do to strangers who watched me say hello. I may make jokes about how this class
has made me have connections but thats just because its late and Im tired of typing. The peer
reviews that we did in class allowed me to create bonds with people I never thought I would be
friends with. Names excluded, these friends that I made through these peer reviews helped my
college experience during my second semester here at UNCC. I may not be much better of a
writer than I was when I started this course but this course did help me make it thought the
semester. Clich as that might sound this course taught me more than just about researching and
making arguments, it taught me about connecting and collaborating, not just in school but in
everyday life.
