Name: _______________________________ Class: ___________

Based on what criteria would you evaluate the example presentations on? What did they do
successfully?

What kind of material would you want to cover using each of the the formats? What ideas do
you have that could use for your project?

Is there anything in physics/the sciences that you want to look at in more detail? Some subject
material that you want to explore more of.
Physics Investigations Project

Objective: Using an understanding of physics, we will take a look at the

everyday, the fictional, and the interesting. This is an open-format presentation,
just so long it is about physics and interesting. (CAVEAT: No Violence, Death,
Drugs, Sex, or Nudity. Rock-n-Roll is fair game though.)

Presentation Requirements:
Physics Centered - The presentation is focused on the Physics aspects
of your topic, other sciences may be used to examine the topic, but try to
keep it about the physics.
Example: A presentation on the Physics Behind Dragon
Flight would be acceptable, but a presentation on how we could create
a dragon using modern genetic modification techniques, while really
interesting, would not fit the criteria.
8-10 Minutes in Length
References/Citations: The science and physics aspects that you
connect to your topic must be researched and cited in a citation page at the
end of your presentation.
Total Points: 70 Pts.
Physics/Science Aspects will account for 35 of the 70
points.
Citations and References will account for 5 of the 70
points
The remaining 40 points will be decided by the class in
regards to how they are broken up and on what criteria the points will
be distributed.
Physics Investigations Rubric:

Science/Physics Content Points

1. Quality of Content: Does your content cover a range of physics

topics? How in-depth do you go with your content coverage? Did you /15
research new material that we did not cover in class for your topic?

2. Connection to your Topic: Did the connections you draw make

sense? Were the connections relevant to your overall topic? Did you
/5
connect the topic other areas of science other than physics to help further
your point?

3. Clarity of your Topic: Did you clearly define what your topic was
and what you were investigating? Did that come across in your
presentation? Could you answer some basic questions related to your topic /5
from the class (if there were any unreasonably difficult questions asked
during the the Q&A section, I wont deduct points)?

4. Other:
a. Equations?
/10
b. Inclusion of Other Science Principles?
c. A Calculation?
