RE: Kelsey Lunde Letter of Reference

To whom it may concern:

This letter offers my complete support of Mrs. Kelsey Lunde as she pursues a
teaching position. I had the distinct pleasure of acting as Kelseys principal while
she completed her Professional Semester III at Dorothy Dalgliesh School. Having
completed three formal instructional supervision and evaluations with Kelsey, as
well as several informal observations, I feel I am qualified to comment on her
potential as a teacher. Mrs. Lunde would be a valuable addition to your staff
with her positive attitude and commitment to excellence, she is an outstanding
candidate for any teaching position.

Kelsey was dedicated to success from the beginning of her assignment. She was
always highly driven to improve her teaching skills and capacity by seeking out
feedback and advice from fellow teachers and her administrator. With her PSIII
beginning in January, she made contact with her teacher mentor and with me
well before Christmas break, and subsequently spent the Christmas break
planning and preparing for her teaching load.

Upon arriving at the school in January, Kelsey quickly made strong connections.
With her charming and bubbly personality, she built rapport with staff and
students alike. Furthermore, Kelsey was always willing to lend a hand throughout
the school. For example, she volunteered her after-school time to help with our
Mini-Basketball program, coaching a team twice a week for a ten-week stretch.
One time, she stayed late to play basketball with the children of the DDS School
Council parents as they had a monthly meeting. It shows her dedication and
passion for kids to take time after school to spend with children.

In terms of planning, Kelsey would thoroughly and conscientiously examine

curricular outcomes, not only the SLOs she had to immediately teach, but what
the students already know through pre-assessments, and how the outcomes tie
into the bigger picture, both within the subject and cross-circularly. When
creating unit plans and lesson plans, Kelsey would consider classroom
management, student engagement, assessment as, for, and of learning, student
learning preferences, and differentiation. She was able to engage students in

higher levels of thinking and stretching them to make authentic and meaningful
connections to the learnings. Kelsey was very creative and incorporated many
innovative projects and methods to engage the kids authentically while still
addressing curricular needs.

Kelsey is an enthusiastic, high achiever, who is clearly passionate about

teaching. I would highly recommend her as a valuable member of your staff.
