2. Edges
Edging is the material that we glue onto the edge
of a panel to cover the edge end grain.
The Quick Design Edges Library uses only 2 types
of edging:
0-edging/010 and 0-edging/020.

These edgings are associated with the 2 edging sub-methods,

b. Variable Quick Design hardware fittings

Fittings that are named 0-name/000 in the hardware list are
Quick Design hardware fittings.
These fittings can be used like the Quick Design materials
and are meant to have variable characteristics.
Like the Quick Design materials its possible to apply a fitting
and then change its definition to update all the instances of
the fitting throughout a specific piece of furniture or project.
For instance if you set up a 0-dow/001 that places an 8mm
dowel fitting on all the cabinets in a project, changing the
0-dow/001 diameter to 6mm will change all the dowels of
your project to 6mm.
These elements can be used with Quick Design Rules (see
the Rules library section for more details).

If you are interested in sharing your libraries with the

community post a thread on the forum with a cabinet
containing the hardware and a description and we will do
our best to include them in the next update.
Watch the Using Quick Design Hardware Fittings video for
more information.

2. Placement Rules
Placement Rules tell Polyboard where and how to put a. Rules for Multiple hardware fittings
hardware.
0100-0120/0600-n/lf-rv
There are 3 types of rules in this library, the first is used to
100- : distance from left side
place multiple hardware fittings, the second to place one
fitting and the third consists of generic Quick Design place- 120/ : distance from right side

Wood Designer | Polyboard Quick Design Libraries

For instance, in the example

0100-0100/0600-p the place-
ment rule has told Polyboard
to put the hinges at 100mm
from each end of the door and
when the door is over 600mm
tall add another hinge.

Wood Designer | Polyboard Quick Design Libraries

We have set up a series of rules using a stan-

dard naming format:
Right offset-left offset/maximum spacing
(measured p= priority (over passing) panel, n =
non priority (under passing) panel, z=free inte-
rior zone)
Other parameters that can be added:
/lef : distance from left
/rig : distance from right
/cen : centred
/lf-rv : last hardware fitting reversed or
flipped over

Manufacturing Methods Libraries

A Manufacturing Method is only an assembly of a series of All other suggestion are welcome.
Sub-Methods.
Watch the How to set up a Manufacturing Method video
This library contains 2 types of Methods, the standard for more information.
Methods that use normal Fitting Links sub-methods and
the Quick Design Methods that use the Quick Design
Fitting Links.
The basic methods are named:
Bas.cab-19/mela/dow-scr
This means:

screw assembly.
Quick Design Method names start with 0-:
0-19/mela/MiniFix/dow
This means:
Main material is 9mm melamine, with Quick Design
Minifix and Dowels
Applying the Quick Design Methods will allow you to
change the hardware and its position by changing the
hardware and rule parameters. The elements of this library
are only examples and we suggest you assemble your own
from the existing sub-methods.

Sub-methods Libraries
Sub-methods are like style sheets that you can apply to your
project.
Each type of sub-method will set up a specific aspect of the
project to follow a preset series of rules.
Note that Sub-methods can be grouped into one
Manufacturing Method, which in turn can be applied to a
project.
The following pages look at the different sub-methods that
are available.

2. Materials Style
This sub-method library will tell Polyboard in what
materials to build your project.
The Materials Style Sub-method work in conjunc-
tion with the Materials libraries.
The Default (Dfaut in French) method will set your
projects using the Quick Design materials, using
one material by panel. This will make it easier to
change the aspect of each different part of your
project.
This is fine if you are using an approved supplier,
but if you want to build your project yourself, you
need to apply a Materials Sub-method that will
give a coherent cutting list.
To create a coherent cutting list change the default /int-16/ : secondary thickness (drawer interiors)
method to a method that groups the materials by /bac-08/ : backs, drawer bottoms
structure. /fac-Egger 0190: facade elements
The naming convention we use is the following: The sub-methods mainly use the manufacturers name and the thick-
mela/car-19/int-16/bac-08/fac-egger 0190 ness of the material.

mela : main material The generic method uses the generic panels that can be changed to
//car : grouped parts name car= carcass, specific name so that the name will be displayed in the cutting lists.

3. Edges Style
This sub-method will tell Polyboard how and
when to apply edging materials to the parts
of your project.
The Edges Style Sub-Method works in
conjunction with the Edges Materials library.
Change the Edging Material library to change
globally all the edging of your projects.
The Quick Design methods have been set up
to apply edging only to visible edges.
If you need edging on other panels youll
have to edit the method or better make a
copy and edit the copy.

5. Fittings Links or Hardware Sub-methods

The Fittings Links Sub-Method enables you to assign hard-
ware to panels.
Each hardware type is associated with a placement rule that
will tell Polyboard how to machine each panel.
The naming convention used is the following:
bas-cab//Blum//dow-08//Minif//
bas-cab : title or group name
/Blum : main hardware manufactures name or sort code
/hing-000 : hardware type with or without 3 digit refer-
ence, hing=hinge, drw=drawer runners, cam=cam,
scr=screw, etc
// dow-08 : next hardware element, dowel with
diameter
//MiniF : next hardware element
// end : additional text
The Fittings Links sub-methods library also includes a series
of Quick Design methods.
These methods use the Quick Design hardware fittings and
an associated Quick Design rule.

Regular Drillings are holes that are drilled into
the upright panels to comply with the 32mm
system of assembly.
You can apply these drilling to a cabinet by
highlighting a Zone, right clicking and choosing
Regular drillings in the mouse menu.
Note that the drillings will only be added if you
have added a Positioning Rule.
In general choose the 37-37/600z rule.
