In Shakespeares tragedy Romeo and Juliet theres many different characters. The one
found I most interesting is Capulet because hes so sensitive, controlling and, peaceful seeing all
these different characteristics shows us how characters change throughout the play. What he
taught me is being a father you have different personalities. Like with different situations with
your kids go through your different. Capulet does all of these things and he changes throughout
the play.
When we were introduced to Capulet he was caring and sensitive towards his daughter.
He was like this because Paris wanted to get married with Juliet. But Capulet wouldnt allow it
she was to young and innocent said Capulet. When Capulet was asked by Paris to marry Juliet he
says My child is yet a stranger in this world she hath not seen the change of fourteen years
(Shakespeare 9). This showed me about Capulet that he has such a care and love for Juliet and
how dads are so protective of their daughters.
Capulet later in the book changed his mind about Juliet getting married to Paris. He now
wanted her to get married with him to make things better from the death of Tybalt. Capulet was
acting very controlling telling her that he was going to disown her and that she was being selfish
because she didnt want to marry Paris. Capulet said to Juliet he says hang thee, young
baggage! Disobedient wretch I tell thee what I get thee to church OThursday or never after look
at me in the face And we have a curse in having her (Shakespeare 63). This taught me that
being a father is hard trying to make your kids happy and make things better. But sometimes you
dont understand your kids or what they are going through and parents always try to make their
kids happy.
At the end of the play Capulet made peace with Montague. He changed to a whole
different person and Montague too. His daughter had to die and Romeo to make peace with both
families. Why do deaths bring people together? Capulet said to Montague he says Obrother
Montague give me thy hand this my daughter jointure for no more can I demand (Shakespeare
92). This taught me at the end of the day you will do anything for kids.
Capulet went from being sensitive to controlling to make peace. He changed a lot not
knowing what was going to happen at the end he did everything to love and to care for his child.
But it shouldnt have ended like the way it did a death of a child.
