A) How do the EDFD 400/401 and EDFD 460/461
courses, taken together, help you now interpret the 3
parts of the Pedagogical Triangle listed in the
Teacher Noticing PPT? (Note: You have this PPT in
your EDFD 460/461 Introductory Materials subfolder
on your computer);
After taking EDFD 400 and EDFD 460 together and
doing the field experience at Ridgeway, I am able to
look at this diagram and better understand the terms
being described and where I fall in the diagram now. I
place myself at the point of the triangle, the teacher
section.
EDFD 460 helped me to understand the relationships I
will have with my students and to help me, as a
teacher, better understand my students. I learned in
460 to learn about my students' family and personal
lives to help relate to them and form a strong bond
with them so they feel comfortable with you and will
be able to come to you for anything. Also, knowing
their personal background can help me better teach
them and know why they may be acting out or not
focusing.
EDFD 400 helped me to understand what my
relationship and understanding of the content will be
when I become a teacher. I learned I need to know my
content inside and out so I can easily describe it to my
students when they need more help. EDFD 400 also
taught me the different theorists and their theories
applied to the different ways students learn content.
For example, some students are visual learners. One
day at Ridgeway I was helping two kindergarteners
with their math (addition and subtraction) worksheets.

Many of the students I worked with at Ridgeway
Elementary had good resources provided to them at
their school. For example, all of the after school
program students were told they had to do an hour of
quiet time, which meant their homework or to read
and further their knowledge. The leaders (and me)
were all their to help them if they got stuck or to keep
them on track. The students were also able to get one-
on-one tutor time with teachers or go into their
classrooms and see their teachers to ask questions
about their homework. All of these are incredible
resources for the students as they have leaders having
them get their homework done before they go home
and keeping them on track. They also have their
teachers easily available in case they need to ask any
specific questions that they may not have been able to
ask during the school day.
Some assets and strengths I noticed among the
students I worked with included good listening
among the girls, good leadership among the boys,
good relationships with teachers among the girls, and
wanting to be challenged more among the boys.
The girl students I noticed listened better than the boy
students did, especially during attendance time and
homework/quiet time. They knew the rules and went
right to following them when the time came. The
girls, I also observed, liked to talk more with the
teachers, leaders and helpers. They loved to play
games with us helpers more than the boys.
The boy students I found had more leadership skills. I
observed this mainly outside or when they would be

laid out chips for her to count and the other was able
to do more of the problems in his head.
playing games inside. The boys were able to take
control more and set up the game and how it was
going to work. I also observed the boys and how
much they loved to be challenged more by either a
leader or fellow classmate. They loved the idea of
being able to be better at the task than someone else
or be able to win the game.
All of these assets and strengths are areas that I
touched on in my research report #3 visual aid web
map.
