Course Synopsis The course first introduces basic elements of natural and
environmental resource management as well as important current
issues. Basic economic principles as employed in resource
management and utilization (exploitation) are introduced along
with key concepts of sustainable management. Aspects of
distribution and allocation natural resources, private-property
and common-property resources are also discussed. Topics in
decision-making principles and practices are introduced. Various
decision making tools relevant to natural resource management
are also the key focus. Related national and state legislations are
subsequently discussed to allow a better appreciation of the
management issues as applied to natural resources. Cases of
contemporary international resource management and planning
are also discussed.
Learning By the end of this course, students will be able to:
