Does the Use of Social Media

Affect Grades?

 Introduction
We decided to survey people regarding how much time they spend on
social media & how that affects their grades. The questions broke up
the answers into categories such as; gender, age, college, etc..

The two main questions asked how much time they spend on social
media and homework per week

We received 126 responses from students in different colleges and

years

There were 95 female
students in the survey

There were 31 male students

in the survey

Over half of the students surveyed were freshmen.

Probability student is a

Freshmen: 65 students

Sophomore: 28 students

Junior: 25 students

Senior: 8 students

Almost 80% of the students were between 17 and 21

The lowest range was 27-31 years old (2 people)

About 40% of the students surveyed use social media for 6 hours or
more.
 Homework
A quarter of students surveyed spend 5-6 hours on their homework
per week.

The majority spent more than

6 hours on homework (32%)

1. On average, more people spend over 6 hours on social media than on
homework per week.

2. More people spend 3-4 hours on homework than on social media

 Results(analyze)
With 126 responses to our survey, we concluded:

1. Most of the students surveyed had a 3.1 GPA or higher (71% of the
students)

2. Students spend an average of 3.7 hours a week on their homework

and about 3.9 hours a week on social media.

3. More people spend over 6 hours on social media (51) than on their
homework (41) per week.

4.There is no correlation with social media negatively affecting

students grades.
