theteacher.Thegymwillbeajudgementfreezonesonoonewillbeafraidtoparticipate.
Studentswillbeinstructedtofindopenspacebeforejumproping.

InstantActivity(5minutes):PacManTag

Therewillbe2taggerswhowillbeassignedbytheteacher.Thisgameisjustliketag,butyou
canonlytravelonthelinesofthebasketballandvolleyballcourt.Ifastudentistaggedorthey
stepofftheline,theyhavetogoovertothesideofthegymandperform10singlebouncejumps
withthejumprope.Oncetheycompletethose10singlebouncejumps,theycanenterthegame.
Playeachroundforabout34minutesandalloweveryonetobethetagger,iftimepermits.

Introduction(5minutes):Introductiontojumproping

Hasanyonejumpropedbefore?!Tellmewhatyouknowaboutjumproping?!?Jump
ropingisgreatcardiovascularexercise.Doesanyoneknowwhatthatis?!Itmeansitisgreatfor
ourheart!Itisgreatexercise.Duringourjumpropeunitwewillhave3mainrules.The1struleis
donotuseyourropeasawhiporthrowyourope.Rule#2istoalwaysjumpropeinopenspace.
Justlikeingymnastics.Rule#3istryyourbest.Jumpropeisfunbecauseeveryonecando,even
ifyouarenotthatgoodatit.Everyonecanhavefunandimprove.Nowwearegoingto
introducethecueswewantyoutofocuson!

studentseachcue.Alsoallowstudentstodemonstrate.

Afterthevideo,alloweachstudenttomeasurearopeandfindopenspaceandbeginworkingon
the4cuesofjumproping.Every2minutes,freezethegroupandallow2studentsdemonstrate
the4cues.

Eachstudentswillbegivenajumpropeandtoldtofindanopenspotinthegymawayfrom
otherstudents.Studentswillhavetheopportunitytojumpropeanywaytheywouldlike.They
cangofast,slow,singlebounce,doublebounce,ect.Every35minutes,theteacherwill
interruptandaskquestionrelatingtojumpropetoseeifthestudentsareunderstanding
everything.(Gooverthecues)Attheend,allowthestudentstoseehowmanytimesthestudents
canjumpropein1minutes.Attheendoftheunit,allowthemtodoagaintoseeifthey
improved.

Throughoutthetime,allowstudentstotakeabreakandgivestudentschancestodemonstratefor
theclass.Introducetrickjumpskillsthattheycandoiftheyaredoingagoodjobwiththecues.

Studentswillbesplitupintogroupsof2.Theobjectofthisactivityisthatonepartneristhe
leaderandtheotherpartnerissupposedtomirrorthelead.Whatevertheleaderdoesrelatingto
jumproping,theotherpartnermustdoit.Theleadercanpickanywaytojumprope,theycan
singlebounce,doublebounce,triplebounce,ect.Thepartnerscanagreetomakeitas
challengingoreasyastheywant,accordingtotheirabilitylevel.Aftereachgrouphasbeen
togetherforabout2minutes,switchsotheyhaveanewpartner.Allowthisactivitytogoonuntil
thereis3minutesleftinclass.
