Comments:
On of the day of the observation, there were 15 students, one teacher and one adult assistant.
The classroom is set up with different stations within the class. There are many colorful posters for reminding the student of rules and routines.
Many word banks are visible for the different curricular areas.
The schedule for the day is listed on the board for the student to review.
The objectives for each area were listed for the students to review.

Comments:
The students sat on their carpet squares and listened to the readings.
The students listened and watched the screen as they discussed the essential items needed to keep safe during bad weather. (In their home safety
kit) Items needed for the home safety kit were drawn on the organizer.

Comments:
The students listened to the reading of two text and discussed connections between topics, events, characters and actions in specific life
experiences. A Venn diagram was used to show the similarities and differences in the two text.
The students watched as you completed a graphic organizer (home safety kit) showing all the necessary items needed for bad weather.
The students divided up into small groups. The groups included Library, devices, word work center, writing center, and small group reading
with you.

At the writing center the students were writing or drawing two types of weather from the text.
At the word work center the students were cutting and pasting pictures to the correct sound and copying items on their home safety kit.

At the back table students were working with you on skills appropriate for their reading level. (sounds and site words) There were 5 groups;
each group was on a different reading level.
Graphic organizers and word banks were made available at each station. They are clear and legible for the students to use easily.
A timer was used to keep pacing for the small groups. After each bell you checked with each group to make sure they knew what their task was.

Comments:
In both the whole and small groups the students were focused and attentive the entire lesson.
Throughout the lesson, you used calm, low re-direction of students when needed. The students always responded in a positive manner.

Kristine, your students are very respectful and attentive to you re-direction. You have established a routine for group work that the students
understand and follow easily. The atmosphere in the class is nurturing and caring. Peer relations are appropriate for Kindergarten level. The
number of students in the class makes learning effective and easily maintained. Thank you for a nice visit.
