WORKING CONCEPT

For the deployment of the antenna, we use spring force to push the antenna out of the
working area of the satellite. The antenna is rolled and packed into a pocket. The antenna will be
attached on top of a platform. The underneath of the antenna platform will be installed with a
compressed spring that can be released in an allocated time to release the antenna.

A cuboid shaped wax holder is use to hold the antenna platform. The wax is located between
the upper surface of the platform and the pocket wall. The wax will hold the platform until it is time
to deploy the antenna. In the wax holder, there will be a wire that is connected with a fuse. The wire
is located in the middle of the wax. Throughout the time, the wire will heat up and melt the wax to
break the wax into two. By the time the wax split, the compressed spring will push the platform and
the antenna will be released. The mechanism of the spring is shown in the sketching part.

There will be four pockets with each contain one strap of the antenna. These pockets will be
put in each corner at the bottom surface of the satellite. The open part of the pocket will be facing at
different directions with each other.
