Unit: Tennis Generic Level: Proficiency- Utilization

Equipment: Tennis Racquets, Tennis balls

Focus of Lesson: Intro to Tennis, Serve and Scoring

Student Performance Objectives (SPO):


By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

(P) Demonstrate the proper rotation for serving during game play as observed by the teacher. (S1.H1.L1)

(C) Verbalize five new rules of singles tennis as a class at the beginning of the lesson as observed by the teacher (S2.H1.L1)

(A) Maintain sportsmanship and honest play throughout the entire lesson as observed by peers and the teacher. (S4.H1.L1)

Teacher Performance Objectives During the lesson the teacher will:


Identify at least eleven students by their first name
Reiterate proper grip and serve techniques with verbal, visual, and demonstrations
Special Considerations What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the students in the class?

- At high competition, tennis balls and racquets are moving at high velocity. Students and teacher need to be aware of their
surroundings at all times
- Teacher needs to be aware of travel time in and out of the building for students to have time to change before the period ends
