Ms. Seay taught an effective lesson on cause and effect using multiple activities to reinforce the concept. Initially, she
presented a picture of a child with what looked like a hurting stomach. Students discussed what could have been the
cause. Quickly, she transitioned to three written cause events and presented them on the SmartBoard and asked the
students to determined the effect to correlate. Next, she presented assorted cards three with causes and three with
effects. As a whole group, the students matched them. Afterwards, she read aloud a book, "Click, Clack, Moo." During
the reading she asked students to note pages that demonstrated cause and effect situations and explain them. Finally,
she distributed cards to cooperative groups with situations from the story and working together the students matched
them as the cause with its effect. Throughout the lesson, students made real-world connections and appeared to enjoy
the various transitions and working together.
