INTRODUCTION

Sustainable development is the ability of natural systems to continue providing any

natural resources and ecosystem services either to the economic or society while at the same
time meeting human development goals. The idea of sustainable development grew in earlier
decades ago by the numerous environmetal movements. In 1987, the World Commision on
Environment and Development state that sustainable development as the Development that
meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet
their own needs.

Green energy is energy that comes from natural sources such as sunlight, wind, rain,
tides, plants, and many more. These energy resources are renewable. Green technology aslo
known as environmental technology or clean technology which is environmentally friendly,
developed and used in such a way so it does not disturb our environment thus conserves natural
resources for the next generation used. Examples of green technology is wind power, wind
turbine, solar power , photovoltaic, wave energy, electric vehicles and many more.

Eventhough, green energy technology is still new, this technology is evolving rapidly.
There are many country have used green energy as their energy sources such as Netherland,
Denmark, United Kingdom, Germany, Scotland, Ireland and many more. Most of it use wind and
solar energy as the renewables energy sources. Recently in Netherland, the government provide a
bicycle track made of solar panel for community uses. Not only can be used as a bicycle track, it
is also can generate electricity from the solar panel to provide electricity the community.

Figure 2: The pollution caused by biogas plant station

The usage of biogas energy like petrol, gasoline, diesel and kerosene are likely to cause a
lot of harm not only to the human mankind but also to the evinronment and eco-system itself.
This energy is not a sustainable sources eventhough come from natural resources. The
uncontrolled usage of petroleum energy in human activity, causing our atmospere overloading
with carbon dioxide and other global warming emissions. It trapped heat, thus increasing earths
temperature each year and create significant and harmful impacts to our health, environment and
climate. Unlike, green energy technology, it produce a little or no warming emissions. Therefore,
green technology does not harmful for the usage of human or environmental. But, since the green
energy technology is still new in the domestic usage, the cost for the equipment, set-up, and
works are quite expensive. No matter what, green technology is one of the sustainable energy
that needs to undergoes more development for more beneficial output.
SOLUTION AND SUGGESTION

Malaysia, a country located in the asian region on the east asian, is a hot and humid year
round, interspersed with tropical rain showers. There are two season in Malaysia which is hot
and dry season and wet season. When wet season is on the east coast between November to
February, the west coast will experiences sunny, dry weather and vice-versa. There are a lot
green energy can be found in Malaysia such as solar, water, wind, biomass and geothermal. Since
Malaysia is a hot and dry country, the production and the usage of solar panel for generating the
electricity is quite suitable for malaysia.

Solar energy also can generate power to move the vehicles. Hybrid vehicles
(petroleum+solar+electric) should be used widely in Malaysia to reduces the warming emissions
in Malaysia. Every building in Malaysia should have their own solar panel in order to generates
their own electric. This can reduce the warming emission produced by diesel or coal power plant
in order to generates electricity. Eventhough, most of the electric produced in Malaysia are by
hydro plant station, which does not pollute water or the air, but hydro power facilities cause a
large environmental impacts by changing environment, eco-system, and affecting land use,
homes, and natural habitats in the dam area. If the solar panel can be used for domestic used, it
can reduced the usage of diesel, coal, and hydro plant station thus reduce the impacts towards
human, environment, and eco-system.

Figure 4: Paka biogas plant station
Rain water is a new found energy sources that are possible to generates power or
electricity from a solar panel. Scientists in China are trying to developing a solar panel that could
used to generate power or energy from both sources, rain water and solar. Since it is a new
discovery, there are a lot limitation to this finding. One of the limitation is the power produced
by the rain water from solar panel are significantly smaller rather that the power produced by
solar energy. Malaysia should also investing and researching on this technology since Malaysia
are having a hot and wet season all over the year. If any researchers from all over the world
especially from Malaysia can improves the future versions of solar and rain panel, it could be a
significant step towards creating a solar panel that can be used in both condition either hot or
wet, with or without sunlight.

Other than that, Malaysia also start pursuing and investing in wind energy technology to
generate power for consumers uses. However, because of the low average of annual wind speed
which is only about 2m/s only, this technology not likely to be renewable energy sources for
Malaysia in the nearest future. But, there are a few places with high wind speed, potentially to
applied this source of green energy such as Pulau Perhentian and Pulau Layang-Layang. Wind
turbine are located at these area are used to generates power for local consumer around it. Today,
a lot of research has been made by local university towards in increasing the efficiency of wind
turbines in low wind speed region in order to exploits the wind energy as the sustainable energy.

Green energy technology is not only about producing or generating a power from
renewable energy, but it is also can be used to increase environmental awareness and an
economic climate favoring for sustainable development. Green building are introduced to
improves air quality in the building, to encourages efficient use of eco-friendly construction
materials, improves indoor environment, focusing on waste system management and many more.
Malaysia has actively encourages community to construct building based on green energy
technology since early 2000. Example of the green building in Malaysia is Perdana Putra, which
is the offices of Malaysias Prime Minister. It is believed that by applying efficient green energy
technology can reduced building intensity, water usage, electric usage, and also carbon dioxide
emissions. However, to implements green building technology in Malaysia, there is a significant
challenge which is to educates and give understanding to the community. Other than that, it is
quite costly for eco-friendly construction materials and it does take time to put up a truly green
building in Malaysia.

ADVANTANGES AND LIMITATIONS TOWARDS GREEN ENERGY

Advantages:

I. Green energy can sustainable and renewable because its come from natural resources
such as solar, wind, wave, rain, and many more
II. Green energy are very clean, environmentally and eco-friendly in which does not cause
any or little pollution only to the environment
III. Reliable sources of energy because green energy would not cut off because it is always
existed unlike biogas which will extinct someday later
IV. Green energy can be very economic because it is cheaper price per consume watt
V. Stabil electricity prices, because the energy is not depending on others unlike biogas in
which depending on the oils or gasess prices

Disadvantages:

I. Green energy needs to fully rely on the weather for sources of supply like solar, rain,
wind, wave and others. Since human cannot predict weather, it is quite difficult to
generate energy with unpredictable weather patterns
II. It is difficult to generate green energy in large scale demand
III. Very expensive set-up cost because it need a big investments to build, maintaining the
facilities and require careful planning and implementation
IV. Need a large or big land as meets large demands. It required a large amoung of solar
panels and wind farms to produce large amount of demands

POTENTIAL UN-ETHICAL PROBLEMS AND WAYS TO OVERCOME THE

any power plant construction

system eventhough the person was helping company that use green energy as a medium
the environment to generate power should not charge
consumer with unreasonable prices

product that does not have official
certification from SIRIM or any official body
to the related agencies or government and an
action must be taken to avoid any undesired
circumstances later
Afraid and untrusted to change from using Campaign, talk and education on the green
conventional sources energy to modern and energy should be held and spread widely
safe sources of energy across the country. Eduction on the

Stingy to spend and invest some money for a Everyone should not afraid to spend and
more safe and green energy invest some money in green energy
technology because it is for our own's good
and our next generation. Government should
control the prices so that people would not
afraid to spend their money on this
technology
