Lesson #___1 Lesson Title: Basketball lesson

Lesson Overview: Warm-up, learn how to dribble, pass the ball, how to throw the ball
overhead as in to put into the basket; cool down

Time: 30 minutes

Essential Questions: Did you play ball before? What kind? Do you know anything about
basketball?

Daily physical activity enables us to practice skillful movement and helps us develop
personal fitness.

Activity 1:
Time
Introduction: they all sit down and listen to me describe the movements
Development: we will move in a side shuffle with are arms up in a defence
position all the way down the gym and around the corner and down to the
piling/cone and do a _Carioca________ from the cone to all the way around
the gym to the other cone
Conclusion:sit in circle to talk about the movements/opportunities
Activity 2:
Introduction: How will I engage the learners?
Ask them to sit down and watch me demonstrate how to hold the ball to put in
basket;
Ask them to get balls and line up to put in baskets. Ask them to go to back of
line after they tried.
AS them to put balls back into storage room into the bin by groups of four.
Activity 3:
In the circle, tell them to close their eyes and control their breathing.
Get them to lie down and relax. Ask them to line up to leave along the wall.

Get into circle and have discussion on how one feels when learning basketball and if
they like it.

Assessment and Evaluation
Sit in circle and ask how they feel about playing and learning about basketball. Talk
about Gold Medal in Alaska and how the First Nation play on teams to compete.
