For one of the pictures a very shy student answered that the picture showed fog, saying it is
foggy. The answer the teacher was looking for was partly cloudy, but foggy was not incorrect.
This answer was not acknowledged.
Instead of discussing all the pictures, which made the lesson quite teacher centered and frontal,
the sts could have been up out of their seats acting out the weather.
The teacher used a weather song, and the children had heard this before. The teachers body
language, facial expressions and participation encouraged the children to sing along and they
became animated and involved. They were so happy to do this.
The next activity was drawing a mind map about weather. This activity was a little bit lacking in
structure, so the results varied. These children are not able to WRITE comments, but a lot of
them had plenty to say. The tr can capture their words and write them on the paper for the sts as
a record of their understanding and ability.
Some of the student excitement was lost at times when the MST interfered with the class. Aysha
was not able to demonstrate her ability to bring the class back under control.
