Commissioned in May 2015, the Edmonton Rail Terminal is one of the largest
crude oil loading facilities in North America. It will accommodate up to 3 unit
trains per day comprised of 150 railcars each. The facility is capable of
loading 76 individual railcars at one time, achieving an ultimate capacity of
approximately 250,000 barrels per day.
The crude oil loading facility was designed to load two product streams
simultaneously into separate unit trains, and is capable of handling all liquid
products transported by Kinder Morgan for delivery by rail to North American
markets and refineries.

Tar Sands on the Tracks: Railbit, Dilbit and U.S. Export Terminals
By Ben Jervey Tuesday, June 17, 2014
Canadian heavy crude, as the tar sands is labeled for market purposes, had
ridden the rails in very limited capacity in years previous loaded into tank
cars and bundled with other products as part of so-called manifest
shipments. But to the best of industry analysts knowledge, never before had
a full 100-plus car train (called a unit train) been shipped entirely full of tar
sands crude.

Because unit trains travel more quickly, carry higher volumes of crude and
cost the shipper less per barrel to operate than the manifest alternative, this
first shipment from the Canexus Bruderheim terminal signaled the start of yet
another crude-by-rail era an echo of the sudden rise of oil train transport
ushered in by the Bakken boom, on a much smaller scale (for now).

Bitumen Blend By Train

JULY 23, 2013
Inter Pipeline Fund ("Inter Pipeline") (TSX:IPL.UN) announced today that it has
entered into a binding agreement with Canexus Corporation ("Canexus") to
transport bitumen blend to Canexus' unit train rail loading operations near
Bruderheim, Alberta. Under the terms of the 10-year agreement, Inter
Pipeline will provide Canexus with 100,000 barrels per day (b/d) of firm
capacity on a new pipeline lateral from the Cold Lake pipeline system.

Canexus is undertaking a major expansion of its rail operations to enable

loading of crude oil unit trains which will access both the Canadian Pacific and
Canadian National Railway systems. Inter Pipeline will construct a 13-
kilometre, 24-inch diameter pipeline lateral from the Cold Lake pipeline
system to Inter Pipeline's Polaris pumping station near Lamont, Alberta.
