Classroom Management

Classroom management is to help the students become motivated when

everything is well managed. You can make the classroom comfortable for the students and want

them to feel safe. In this chapter, it is all about how the teacher will be prepared for the

classroom and how it will be setup in a way that will become successful. You will have to

involve the parents, create a positive climate, create activities for them, and organize the

classroom.

Having a positive classroom climate is important to me because I want the students to

feel they are important and they should care about others. When the students enter my classroom

I want them to feel warm and welcome. If you do not create a positive classroom it can cause

the students to be off track and rude to one another. Which could lead to bullying or name calling

students and the teacher might never know what is going on because the student does not feel

comfortable talking to the teacher. (Kauchack & Eggen, pg. 325)

A positive climate allows us to create a learning community in the classroom. A place

where students and teachers collaborate to help everyone grow and develop. Everyone should

participate in every learning activities, they should support each other, and believe they can

succeed. It does not matter if they have high or low grades as long as they are involved in the

learning activities. (Kauchack & Eggen, pg. 326)

In classroom organization, I think it is very important because the students will learn

procedures in the classroom. They should know what to do without thinking about it when class

begins. Once you continue to do the same routine and procedures like turning in papers, lining up

at the door, or going to the bathroom. It will maximize the time instead of wasting energy

explaining or reminding them what to do when they should already know. (Kauchack & Eggen,

pg. 350)

I want my classroom rules to be simple but strict enough that they understand. My rules

will be that there is no such thing as a stupid question, have fun and be respectful. If they follow

my rules, I will award them with paper money. At the end of the term I will have a prize for

everyone. If they do not follow my rules, I will take some of their paper money away but I will

not take all of them because I still want them to get a prize. But, as soon as they see others

getting more prizes hopefully that will motivate them to follow my rules.

My classroom setup will have pictures around the room that catches the childrens eye so

when we discuss the topic they will want to learn about it and be participating. I would like to

have the desk in different shapes where it seems fun for the students and they wont get bored

sitting at the same place. I will also move the students to sit next to someone who they have not

socialized with. It will allow them to be more open and communicate with other students.

I discussed with one of the professors about classroom management and he teaches

online and there is built in spreadsheet for the students which makes it easier for him. I figured

that it would be simply since it is an online class. I asked another professor at the college about

classroom management and she said, Everything I teach I try to do hands on and try to make it

more interesting so when they go home, they will remember what they have been taught. I am a

visual learner and I use pictures, activities, and videos.

Involving parents is important because they want their child to succeed and they trust the

teacher will do anything to help them learn and continue to the next level. When parents are

aware of what is going on in the classroom, the student has a positive attitude, completes the

homework, and has a better attendance. If there is a personal situation going on at home, the

parents can trust the teacher and let them know the situation. If you see the student acting

different or being disruptive you will know why and it will become easier for the teacher to

respond. (Kauchack & Eggen, pg. 336)

Overall, I have learned a lot in this chapter and I have an idea on how I am going to use

classroom management. I know the importance of being involved with the students learning and

creating a positive classroom where the students will feel comfortable being themselves. It

allows the teachers to get to know the students and the students will know that the teacher is

there to help them. I know it will take a lot of effort but it will all be worth it.
