LESSON PREVIEW PRIOR TO TEACHING

Prior knowledge required for this lesson/objective success

Students will need to understand bar graphs and what they are used for.
Review sub-skills required for this lesson/objective
Students will need to be able to ask questions and fill in the boxes.

LESSON PRESENTATION

INTO

Step-by-Step Anticipatory Set/Orientation

T. will ask:
What is one way to gather information?
Once we gather that information, what is a way of recording that data?

THROUGH

Step-by-Step Presentation of the Objective

T. will tell students that they will be continuing their learning about graphs.
T. will explain that they will be gathering information and recording their data.
T. will ask students which activity they think is the most popular and circle their guess.
T. will have explain that students will go around and ask their classmates which is they
favorite. For each response, they will make one tally mark. They will then fill in their bar
graph according to the tally marks.
T. will allow students 5 minutes.
The class will come together and call on students to share their findings.
T. will go over the guided practice and problem solving pages with students which provide
additional practice.

BEYOND

Independent Practice/Summative Assessment of Each Students/Groups Performance

T. will allow time for students to complete the independent practice on their own. This will be
used as a summative assessment.
