The student will work with their teammates to correctly match book descriptions to
different genres.
The student will work with their teammates to correct and justify other students
work.

Materials: Envelopes (4), book descriptions (1 for each team), genres (1 for each
team)

Description:
Good morning 3rd graders. Yesterday we learned about genres and today we
are going to review them using a kinesthetic round table structure.
Can the bosses from each team come get an envelope, but please dont
open it. Ring Bell
Thank you for doing that quickly. Person 1 can now take out the blue strips
and lay them on your table. Ring Bell
Person 2 can now take out the white strips and lay them face down on your
table. Ring Bell
The blue strips are your genres, they white strips are book descriptions.
Today you are going to one at a time read a white strip and match it to the
genre. Model this
Bosses can you tell you team what we are doing today? Ring Bell
Ok, when your team is finished come up here and ring the bell. Ready? Set.
Go. Ring Bell
Congrats team # on completing this quickly. To check each team is going to
move to another table to see if all of the books are matched correctly. Person
3 tell your team how we are going to check our answers. Ring Bell.
If you find a book that doesnt match the genre, you must come up with a
justification of why it matches a different genre. Person 2 tell your team
what happens in the book doesnt match the correct genre. Ring Bell
Ok team 1 will move to team 2s table, team 2 will move to team 3s table,
team 3 will move to team 4s table, and team 4 will move to team 1s table.
Go. Ring Bell.
When students are done checking, have them share their findings and justify
if any are found wrong.
Ok thank you for helping me check the answers, you may return to your
seats. Ring Bell.
