Draft Essay Two

Definitely, the publicity has had an amazing impact in our society and they have been

evolutioning with the passage of the time. Long time ago, the advertising did not have a big

influence in the community, because the companies had less options to promote their products. In

that time, the companies only had two options, they were television and radio. In addition, the

old publicity was simple and the unique objective of the companies were promotioned their

brands. Nowadays, the publicity is too different, so the companies have more tools to promote

their products. those tools could be the television, radio, cinemas, billboard, internet and apps.

Clearly, these tools have helped that the publicity has more impact in our society. For this reason,

we can see and hear the publicity any place that we are. Also, the goals of the commercial videos

and publicity are not only to promote their brand if not exert a great influence on the buyer at

difference than before. Besides, the publicity has become the creator of social, ethical and even

psychological deformations of our society. These are several influences or troubles that publicity

cause our society.

First, the publicity makes that people becomes to a materialistic society. this the result of the

incredible products that commercial videos promotion and the desire of the buyer to acquire the

product. The materialistic people usually are fanatic of the technology and they are addicted to

obtain new products. A clear example of a commercial video that fosters to materialism are the

Apple Company's advertising videos. This kind of company have a cell phone called iPhone.

This item is so popular that people around the world change of iPhone every year. This is a

clear example of materialism. According with the essay "High price of the materialism" written

by Tim Kasser explains us that materialism has repercussion in the people. One of them is that

materialistic person is not happy and does not have satisfaction life. thus, this kind of person are

interested in things materials instead of emotional things. Another characteristic that the author

describes of materialistic people is that they do not like spent time with other people and they are

not emphatic and generous when money is involved. Returning to the iPhone example and

according to the information given by the author. When people make the sacrifice by acquiring

the new iPhone, they may be happy but after a while they are not happy with the product.

Next, according with the authors Tim Kasser and Jib Fowels on the articles "The High

Price of Materialism" and "Advertising's Fifteen Basic Appeals" mentioned that advertising

videos try to convince the people to buy with order that people are happy and satisfied with the

sale. Therefore, the video commercial affect emotional things on the society with the objective to

people are interested to buy products that they do not need it. In other words, commercial videos

have had a big influence that people become to materialistic without do not matter if people

actually need these products. Definitely, companies are the only ones that benefit from people

who spent money in things that they do not need. On the other hand, people are affected because

they make expenses that are not necessary. As a result, it affects our society because people begin

to have economic and moral problems.

Third, commercial videos practice deludes in our society. Thus, they let us believe that

their items are the unique option to resolve our problems. Also, they give us the message that

their products are hundred percent effective and they do not affect the health of people. For

instance, red bull is an energy product and the almost ever this company gives us the same

message that consumption of red bull can give us wings. Obviously this sentence is an irony.

However, the red bull could be effective but many surveys have as result that people did not

notice changes after drink this kind of energy drink. In addition, this kind of drink such as any

energizing drinks their ingredients could affect the health of the people. Citing the essay

Advertising's Fifteen Basic Appeals written by Jib Fowels. The author tells us that advertisers

are making efforts to enforce explicit and implicit messages in the hope of trying to manipulate

or cheat the decisions of consumers. This is a clear example how the advertising videos tries to

cheat us with order to increase their capital.

Finally, the advertising videos sometimes include messages that they could be offenses to

certain communities. this kind of advertising often promote of selling alcohol and sexual

protection products. this publicity always includes sexual material in their videos because their

products exclusive to adult people. Plus, this kind of advertising is accessible to all kinds of

people. For this reason, this type of advertising is sometimes offensive and annoying for people.

In accordance with the author Richard W. Pollay who wrote the article The Distorted Mirror:

Reflections on the Unintended Consequences of Advertising mentioned that publicity is

transforming. Nowadays, the modern publicity uses more luxury and sexual material in their

advertising and those could offend the women.

In conclusion, advertising has a great power in the consumerism of society. We must not

let ourselves be influenced by advertising because it is certainly a great factor in our society.

Besides that it can turn us into materialistic people and it affects our ideas. As the author Tim

Kasser says in the article "The High Price of Materialism." The only option for advertising does

not affect us is that we perform activities and have a healthy social life.
