ns 100 words scavenger hunt
Students will collaboratively work on creating a list of 100
words they find around the classroom.
What will you do if a student struggles with the content?

I will provide one-on-one guidance.

What will you do if a student masters the content quickly?

I will have a folder or area where early finishers will be able to choose from a few options
of extension activities. Students can create their own wiggle cards (cards that have an
action phrase like rise and shine that are used for brain breaks). There will be a few
options of activities related to the 100th day of school.

Meeting your students If applicable, how does this lesson connect to the interests and cultural
needs as people and as backgrounds of your students?
learners This lesson can connect to the interests and cultural backgrounds of my students
because they can share about things they have done in the past that interest them. This
can be tied in with the past/present tense part of the lesson.

If applicable, how does this lesson connect to/reflect the local community?

The students have to come up with reasons why they love 1 st grade or their school.

How will you differentiate instruction for students who need additional
challenge during this lesson (enrichment)?

Ask higher order thinking questions: Can a noun also be a verb? For an action to be
considered a verb do you have to be moving physically?

For the 100 word scavenger hunt students can circle the similar words that other groups
came up with. They could try to come up with their own narrative with the words from
the list they created.

For the hand prints, I can ask students to write a valuable lesson they have learned in
their palm of the handprint if they complete early.

How will you differentiate instruction for students who need additional
language support?

I will model and provide visuals for each center.
