Science is dderived from the Latin word scienta, meaning


knowledge.
A set of rules by one seeks a rational comprehension of
physical universe

Features
Scientifci activity which takes place within the Islamic
worldview
The inborn desire to learn and understand the complexities of
benefits Allahs works for benefit of humanity and to seeks
Allahs pleasure.

Knowledge of sciences
Acquire through experience, observation and research .
Knowledge is discursive, that is, proceeding by reasoning and
argumentand is obtained through deductive reasoning.
Scientific knowledge as compared to revealed knowledge is
transitory and changing
The different between revealed knowledge and scienfictic
knowledge is revealed knowledge it can be argued however
you cannot argue revealed knowledge.

Concept of knowledge in Islam


Knowledge is an important aspect in Islam. Which is based on the
following ideas.
The idea of one living, omnipotent, omniscient, merciful and
just God.
The idea of man as the servant and vicegerent of God on
earth.
The idea of Prophethood for the guidance of man.
The idea of multi-faced reality and diversity of life which is a
manifestation of God and which is intended to benefit man in
his quest for meaningful existence.
The idea of judgments in the hereafter followed by reward or
punishment.

The concept of knowledge in Islam has several key features such as


following;
Knowledge is infinite since it orginates from ends in God, who
is absolute knower.
Since knowledge is an aspect of divinity, seeking it, expanding
it and teachin it considered and acts of divine worship
The proper nd sincere application of knowledge in ones
personal and collecive life forms the basisi of taqwa or God
conciousness.

Concept of knowledge in West


The material on world is only reality.
No purpose of plan governs the universe. It is governed only
by the laws of nature.
Man itself created with faculties of reason and sense
perception and he determines hid own purpose and direction.
He is a rational being and master of his own destiny.
Fullfilment of desire for the sake of happiness with certain
values such as democracy, equality, human right, social
justice, etc.
Knowledge is pursued strictly via the scientific approach. For
example observation and experiment.
Revelation as source of knowlegde is rejected. ( they dont
believe in revelation such as the Quran)

Claasification of knowledge.
There are 2 types of knowledge
1. Absolute knowledge
Allahs knowledge that includes and encompasses everything
and is comprehensive in its entirely.

2. Limited knowledge
The knowledge give by Allah to is creautre. It varies in degrees
and is extremely limited compared to Allahs knowledge.
Some of Allah creations given this type of knowledge are ;
Angel (wahyu)
Prohphet
Human being
Jinns
Satans
Animals

Limited knowledge ; it can be classify into 2 typer


Gifted knowledge
- it is a knowledge imparted in the very nature of the
creation.
- It is obtained without any need of research and
experiment.
- Has been provided to the creature from the very
beginning of the creation.

Acquired knowledge
-knowledge that acquired through efforts by way of
reflection, sense perception and experiment.

learning or maybe a pursue for the future;

sociology, linguistic, psychology.
Physical sciences ; mathematics, statistic, physics,
chemistry, biology, astronomy, outer space
Applied sciences ; engineering and technology, medical
sciences, sciences of farming and forest .
