Lesson Content Description:
Students will be watching a video which introduces picture graphs.
Students will then be completing a Common Core worksheet with
the teachers guidance and instruction. Students will then do
independent practice.

Instructional Strategies/Method of Delivery:


T. will show a video which introduces the topic of picture graphs.
T. will then show students how to read the picture graphs and complete questions with students.
T. will then provide students with time to complete independent practice.
Common Core Standard:
Represent and interpret data.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.MD.C.4
Organize, represent, and interpret data with up to three categories; ask and answer
questions about the total number of data points, how many in each category, and how
many more or less are in one category than in another.
ELD Standard:
5. Listening actively
Demonstrate active listening to read- alouds and oral presentations by asking and answering
yes-no and wh- questions with oral sentence frames and substantial prompting and support.
Common Core Lesson Objective:
Students will be able to interpret data and which has greater than, less than and equal.
Assessment:
Formative: Checking understanding by giving a thumbs up or down to answer questions.
Summative: T. will collect students math sheets and review their independent practice sheet.
Lesson/Assessment Modifications: ELL: Special Needs
EL- Student will have access to visuals on the worksheet.
Speech- Student will be provided with additional time to answer questions.
Technology: Describe the types of technology you will be utilizing in your lesson to create
and enhance instruction
If no technology is used, please explain why.
I will be using a video on the projector to introduce the topic. As well as, a document
projector to do the worksheet with students.

T. will show students a video which introduces the topic of using date from picture graphs.
The video will also reinforce what we learned the day before.

THROUGH

Step-by-Step Modeling/Presentation of the Objective


T. will pass out math sheets to students.
T. will begin on the front page and ask S. three questions, they will circle their answers. They
will be using the picture graph on the front sheet.
T. will complete the guided practice with students and informally assess their understanding.
Students will be using a graph to answer questions such as Which sport is the favorite?
T. will then complete the problem solving page with students. This involves reading a picture
graph and answering questions. T. will go over answers with students.

BEYOND

Independent Practice/Summative Assessment of Each Students Performance


T. will explain that students will do the independent practice on their own. This involves five
questions similar to the guided practice.
