CHANGE IN HOLE SIZE
FIELD MAINTENANCE
The Borrox 85 is a much easier reamer to redress when
the cutters finally do need replacing. The upper block,
bearing pin and cutter come as a pre-assembled unit,
lubricated for the life of the cutting structure at the factory.
At the rig, it is a simple task to replace the cutter
assembly. The steps to redress a reamer are:
1. Remove the secondary locking capscrews from the
reamer blocks. (NoteThe capscrews are a secon-
dary locking device on the Borrox 85 Reamer. The
heavy interference fit between the blocks and the
block pockets is the primary means of retention.)
2. Place the Drilco-supplied knockout tools in the slot
provided under each block.
3. Using a sledge hammer, drive the tools under the
blocks. This will lift the entire assembly out of the
pocket as one unit. Blows should be alternated
between the upper and lower tool to insure the
blocks come out evenly.
4. Thoroughly clean the block pockets, and lubricate
them with drill collar thread compound.
5. Install the lower block onto the cutter assembly and
place the shim (if required*) in the bottom of the upper
block pocket.
6. Place the cutter assembly in the pocket and tap the
blocks lightly to align them. Then drive the blocks in
with heavy blows. Again, blows should be alternated
between upper and lower blocks to insure they go
in evenly.

SEE-FLO DEGASSER
Drilco's See-Flo atmospheric degasser consists
basically of a submerged, centrifugal pump and an
elevated spray tank. The pump contains special
spiraled inlets and an inlet impeller that prevents
gas-locking.
The mud flows to the base of the spray tank and then
out under normal gravity through a trough to the mud
pits.
