a. Motivation/Engagement:
Using the big book The Big Book of Shapes the teacher will point out squares that
they have gone over and then transfer over to rectangles.
The teacher will then ask students if they can name different objects around the
classroom that are rectangles. (Use right is right, Lemov)
Teacher will then show and draw for the students some different objects that are
rectangles
Teacher will then explain that rectangles are like squares except square have four
equal sides and rectangles have two different sides that are both equal.
Students will then practice drawing rectangles on their whiteboards. (Do it again,
Lemov.)
Students will then work on the worksheet "Itsy Bitsy Book" which has the
students tracing rectangles.

Rectangle worksheet where students have to color in the rectangles.
9. Reflection:
a. Strengths: The lesson went well, I got to do this lesson almost completely on my own
while Mrs. Szafranski was busy attending to other matters around the classroom.
b. Concerns: No real major concerns, I feel like I had the students attention and only had
to stop twice using "Pan 1" to get their attention.
c. Insights: Every week I feel like I am getting better at giving lessons and helping out in
the classroom.
