ENVIRONMENTS.

Protect staff in volatile

environments
Underground mining and tunnels present serious difficulties when it comes
to communicating and protecting staff members. Zonith offer a complete
safety solution giving management and security complete visibility of
employees and assets if an emergency occurs. Furthermore, Zonith can
trigger various alarm types from personal panic alarms to sirens and lights to
alert all staff on-site of the situation. Zonith integrate with the existing mobile
communication networks and infrastructure to provide tailored solutions to
fit specific needs. Learn more about Zoniths application suite and its
solutions for the mining & tunnels sector in this brochure.

Alarm Management Bluetooth Indoor Positioning
Zoniths Alarm Control System (ACS) Zoniths Indoor Positioning System (IPS)
ensures that alarm management and allows organisations to locate and track
notification is automatic, efficient and employees and assets using any always
reliable. It automatically dispatches safety discoverable Bluetooth device,
and business critical alarms to DMR/TETRA includingDMR/TETRA radios, and
radios, Spectralink WiFi/DECT handsets, MOTOTRBO radios equipped with a
mobile phones, email and pagers, or a Bluetooth adapter. IPS provides real-time
combination of these. The ACS dispatches location data of radio and mobile phone
notifications to the right person based on users using strategically placed Bluetooth
the time of day, criticality of alarm and beacons. It can be used in conjunction with
competencies necessary to respond to the the ACS to trigger an alarm notification if a

Application Usages
Send and Track Job Tickets
ACS allows for supervisors and dispatchers to send work order tickets to
mobile workers directly on their DMR/TETRA radios and other mobile
devices. For example, these could be sent to mechanics, engineers, drivers
or any other mobile worker. The mobile workers either accept or decline the
work order. If unanswered or declined, the ticket can be escalated to the next
capable worker.
Sending work order tickets with ACS significantly eases the process of
sending information to those on the move and allows for workflow to be
responsive and flexible.

Receive Alarm Notifications from Fire Alarm and Panic

Button Systems
The ACS listens to alarms generated by the Fire Alarm and Panic Button
System. Depending on the type of alarm, ACS notifies the appropriate worker
on their device of choice based on competency and time of day. A message
is automatically created and sent to the workers radio, where the alarm is
accepted with the push of a button and easily closed once the alarm has
been looked after. Furthermore, fire alarms can be stalled in the ACS for
several minutes giving security time to check for a false alarm before raising
an evacuation alarm.
With the ACS, response times to panic alarms are significantly decreased,
the need to physically run to a notification panel is resolved and human error
is eliminated.

Receive Evacuation and Machinery Alarms

The ACS also interfaces to existing evacuation and machinery alarm systems
to raise/receive alarms from a single platform. All technical and equipment
alarms can be raised and sent to engineers, whereas evacuation alarms can
be sent to all radios and trigger lights, alarms and sirens. The ACS can be set
-up to send alarms to only those competent workers on-shift at the time, and
less critical alarms can be stalled and sent the following morning.

Track Employees Both Indoors and Outdoors

Employees can be tracked underground via Bluetooth, as well as above
ground via GPS. The employee only requires one radio, and no action needs
to be taken when moving indoors/outdoors as it transfers between
technologies automatically. If an alarm is raised simultaneously by an
employee outdoors and one indoors, both locations will show up on one map
for easy action. Tracking becomes particularly important when paired with
Lone Worker functionalities (next page), as well as to locate employees in
certain parts of the mine/tunnel if an emergency occurs, such as a mine/
tunnel collapse.
This reduces the amount of devices carried by staff, as a radio can act as a
pager, telephone, tracking device and panic alarm button.

Monitor the Well-being of Mobile Workers

Maintenance workers and engineers are two mobile groups that often work
by themselves and are very important to the daily operations of oil and gas
facilities. To ensure their safety, Zonith offers two personal safety
applications: Man Down Notifier and Centralised Lone Worker.
With its intelligent calibration feature, MDN provides lone workers with
proactive and reliable motion-based monitoring. Alternatively, CLW pings
lone workers every few minutes to ensure they are responsive and well.
Both applications can be customized and provide improved worker safety on
any radio network.

Automatically Activate Lone Worker Monitoring Based on

Location
The Indoor Positioning System locates and tracks any always discoverable
Bluetooth device, such as DMR/TETRA radios. By pairing IPS with CLW, the
lone worker monitoring application is automatically enabled when an
employee enters a designated dangerous area or disabled when entering a
safe zone. Location-based activation and deactivation of CLW ensures that
lone workers are monitored only when they require the additional protection.

Link Call Boxes to Security Radios

The integration of call boxes to security guards radios is a great example of
how call groups add significant value to any radio network. When distressed
staff or patients make a call from an emergency call box phone, the RBX
+Plus rings all radios associated to the Security group. The first available
security guard who picks up the call is automatically connected with the
distressed caller, ensuring that the individual seeking help is looked after
without delay.

Connect Radios to Telephony Allowing Seamless

Communication
RBX +Plus allows for radios to make and receive private calls to external
phone numbers and internal extensions on the PBX. This can be used in
multiple ways. For example, the system allows any number on the corporate
telephony system to be forwarded directly to the security guards radios after
hours allowing them to roam freely across the facilities without the need for a
dispatcher overnight.
Call groups and talkgroups are also valuable features of the RBX +Plus.
Talkgroups enable a phone user to communicate with a group of radio by
dialing into the talkgroups extension. For example, the Chief Engineer could
communicate to all other engineers by dialing extension 1001 from his desk
phone. He would then bridge into the call as if he was another radio on the
talkgroup, and the first to answer will enter a private call with the dialer.
