Summary 6

"Undocumented In America" by Kevin Clarke and Robert David Sullivan, tells us

about how America faces the multitude of undocumented people. It is important to

do something about this because, in the last few years under President Obama a

record of 2.5 million people were deported. However, the authors emphasize how

these deportations left children and family behind, and will no doubt affect the

children's development. The authors give some percentages of undocumented people

and say that a little more than half of undocumented residents are of Mexican

origins, 58% of Mexico, followed by Guatemala 14%, el Salvador with 11%, Honduras

9% and a 8% of continents like Africa and Asia.

"Undocumented in America" makes me realize that this country really has a

big percentage of immigrants from everywhere. I think about the families that are

separated and how this action probably can bring more problems to America in the

future because a child without parents has a chance of becoming a criminal rather

than a very productive person.

"Immigrations Under Siege in New York," by Janet Howard, talks about how

President Donald Trump has vowed to deport at least 3 million undocumented

people who according to Trump have a criminal background. Many people are
worried that they will be deported because they are illegal in the country. To

complicate things, The Mayor offices in New York confirms that the city officials will

not act as an immigration agent like in other states. Nevertheless, Howard gives

some advice about what to do in the case of being detained by ICE. She suggests to

not answer any question if they dont have a warrant, not give false information and

do not sign anything you dont understand.

"Immigrants Under a Siege in New York" Makes me nervous. It demonstrates

that for immigrants this is a difficult and nervous time, not only for New York, but

also for the rest of the states like California and Chicago. This situation makes me

nervous because I have been meeting amazing people who right now have an

uncertain future. This article really can help because it gives information about what

to do as a legal resident, or people who are waiting for a petition. It can also help

illegals. I know many people that dont know what to do and even having a green

card. they have been deported for signing papers that they dont understand.
