Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan

in English 8

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
1. construct their own sentences in three different verb structures with a
future meaning
2. differentiate the verb structures in terms of meaning
3. discuss their future plans with their classmates

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Verb Structures with a Future Meaning
be + ing / be going to + base form / will + base form
Materials: photographs
Reference: Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy

III. PROCEDURE
A. Review: Ask the class what the number of ways to express the future are.
B. Motivation: Travel Plans
Have them plan an imaginary trip and ask the following
questions:
1. How long will they stay?
2. What will they bring?
3. What will they do?
C. Activities: 1. Divide the class into five. Let them choose an interviewer for
each group asking all the members what to do with their money recently won
during a contest.
2. Have somebody report what the students have shared.
D. Abstraction:
In English, there are subtle differences to say our future plans. Present
the table to the class to enable them to differentiate the three verb structures in
terms of meaning.
