Three-phase metal enclosed air insulated switchgear partition class PM type PIX 1000mm
wide - (17,5kv-40kA-2500A).
Earthing switch endurance class : M0.
The cable compartment was equipped with 3-off DIN current transformers 2500/5A-10VA-
10P10 Ref : 02/10273731 , 02/10273732, 02/10273733.
The earthing switch micro-switches arrangement was also fitted and the operations counter
was connected to one of the micro-switches.

Condition before the tests: brand-new

The test procedure was based on IEC62271-102.

6. Test- and measuring circuits

Travels were measured with a rotary displacement transducer connected to a data

acquisition system to display and capture readings.

Torques were recorded with a calibrated torque meter.

Contact resistances were measured with a 100A micro-ohmmeter.

8.1. MEASUREMENTS BEFORE THE ENDURANCE TESTS

Closing speed : 45,0 rad/s (measured 10ms before contact make)

Total stroke : 91,6

Operating torque :

Maximum opening torque : 153Nm

Maximum closing torque : 37,8Nm

Contact resistances between jaws and knifes : R1 = 16 , R2 =18 , R3= 19

8.2. MEASUREMENTS AFTER 1000 OPERATIONS

Closing speed : 42,5 rad/s

Total stroke : 92,9

Operating torque :

Maximum opening torque : 188Nm

Maximum closing torque : 44,1Nm

Contact resistances between jaws and knifes : R1 = 15 , R2 =19 , R3= 19

After 1000 operations the closing speed and the maximum opening torque remain within
acceptable limits.

After the tests the earthing switch was in good operating condition. And so was the
associated micro-switches arrangement.

By this it is proven:

Mechanical endurance 1000 operations of the earthing switch of PIX-17,5 unit

according to IEC 62271-102 6.102.3

In order to verify the good condition of the earthing switch, an additionnal 200 operations
were carried out without any problem.
