a. Ability to maintain a steady beat in nonlocomotor and locomotor ways.


b. Comfort and familiarity with movement to music

V. Procedures:
a. Warm-up Activity
i. Students will warm up their tappers by keeping a steady beat and
echoing 2 beat rhythmic patterns
ii. Students will suggest a different place on their body to keep the
steady beat and create their own rhythmic patterns as an echo
iii. Students will then walk the steady beat around the room and echo a
different rhythmic pattern
b. Movement relating to Rondo form
i. The teacher will play Mozarts Rondo in C Major and have the
students Do what I do
ii. The teacher will tap the beat for the A section in one spot and the
beat for the B section in a different spot
iii. The teacher will draw the students attention to the repetition of the
A movement and the B movement and discuss how this is called a
Rondo Form because of the ABABA format.
iv. The teacher will ask the students to come up with a movement for
the B section that they can do together as a class
v. The teacher will lead the class in the movement again and show the
movement for A and the new movement for B
c. Movement in a locomotor way
i. The teacher will ask the students to come up with a way to move
the A section around the room as a class
ii. The teacher will tell the students that during the A section they will
move together as a class and during the B section they can move
the beat around in a creative individual way.
