To the employers of Moffitt Cancer Center:

I am pleased to be considered for a position at Moffitt. After learning of Moffitts Magnet status, its respectable
nurse retention rates, as well as its competitive residency program, my interest was piqued in regards to your
healthcare system. Furthermore, upon learning that your vision statement is to transform cancer care through
service, science, and partnership, I knew that this was an establishment I wanted to work for and grow with.
Cancer is a disease that nearly everyone has a personal connection to. My grandmother has been my best
friend for as long as I can remember. When she was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2008, it was a hard blow for
the entire family. I am grateful to say that with amazing treatment and a dedicated healthcare team, she has been
cancer-free for nearly 6 years. Some of the nicest and most grateful patients I have ever had as a nurse
technician have been cancer patients. All of these reasons have inspired me to pursue a career involving
oncology.
I take pride in being an advocate for diversity and providing culturally competent care as well. I am an
avid and active volunteer with Metro Health, Wellness, and Community, an LGBTQ+ community center that
provides a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. Furthermore, I make sure to acknowledge all
cultures and abide by my patients preferred method of communication and care given. I have spent over 200+
hours working with disadvantaged youth at the Naples Botanical Gardens Summer Camp, that provides free
summer camp for children of low income families.
I will be graduating in May of 2017, and upon graduation will be scheduling a date soon after for the
NCLEX. I am most interested in pursuing a career in critical care, preferably in the Intensive Care Unit or a
cardiac related unit. I plan to further my education to either a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Acute Care
Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) after receiving several years of experience, and I am highly interested in
specializing in endocrinology.
I look forward to learning more about your facility and meeting with you to discuss the countless
opportunities presented at Moffitt.

Sincerely,
Lindsey Swank
