and the sea; a traditional way of life but with the latest 21st century
options; and a place of business but also of government and culture.

1 Urban System Analysis
The application site is situated in the urban setting and it is well connected through arterial
roads. The approach to the site is from the Khata Al Shikle Street. The mosque is being
developed for residential communities in Al Sarooj

1.1 Utilities/ Services

The project site lies in a developed area. The plot is in close vicinity to residential area hence
Basic utilities such as potable water supply system, sewerage system, electricity etc. are
already available on site and is being used in the existing building.

Infrastructure providing access to the site and its surrounding facilities are available and
functional. The plots are well connected by pedestrian pathways. The site benefits from not
being along the main road since this helps reduce the impact of noise from the daily traffic.
However, the site is easily accessible

1.2 Urban systems assessment

The project site lies in a developed area that is sparsely populated considering the fabric of the
Emirate. Access roads to the site are under development and shall be provided with street
lights. The mosque surroundings are occupied by a combination of residential and mixed-use
buildings Commercial and retail use spaces.

The population that benefit from the mosque in its apt location are the residents of the sparsely
residential community within Al Sarooj, Al Ain. Since the population residing within the area are
those that are native, the location of the mosque can be considered apt since it reduces the
commuting time. Furthermore, the mosque would increase the cultural harmony in the area.

The location of the mosque has been deemed apt for general public. This can be demonstrated
by the lack of enough mosque for burgeoning population.

Community facilities such as, department stores and eateries are within 3 km from the
proposed site.

2 Conclusion
The need for burgeoning population deems it apt for Al Sarooj area to develop mosque for
dwellers in nearby areas.
