National Analysis of Democratic Understanding and Political Support for

ORIENTATION

Democracy is become a crusial political system that governs many

countries which implemented it. Many countries cannt obtain the true meaning of
the democracy itself, because the person who in charge to apply this system is
incompetent. By that way, democracy get the bad impact. The goverment use this
system for gaining wealth and individual welfare. For example in Indonesia we
see many descrimination along the Soeharto regime.

If we see the theories that democary is a sytem that created for civilian
welfare. It priorities civilian because the democracy itslef is created for minimize
the criminal act. To create a balance between the goverment and the civilian for
equal justice. But the fact is the goverment is incompetent and it just creating
chaos by any the goverments action towards the country.

Actually if we can competent in implementing this system correctly, this

would eliminate the social earthquake, reduce cahos and uncertain that goverment
make. Thats why to implement it correcty we should understand what is the
purpose and the real meaning of it, then after we get the real meaning of
democracy itself that will make us love it and by that way when there are people
try to disobey it we will take action to eridicate it and stabilize it.

Thats why the more we know about the democracy itself, we can
implemented it then love it and share it. So the real system will run along the
country. And thats the way we should do for implementing the democracy. To
know more and love it.

MAIN POINT OF THE ARTICLE

The democratic political system has become dominant around the world
and in the mind of global mass publics during the last few decadesnot only in
the richer coun tries but also in developing countries. Because demo cratic support
is a core component of democratic legitimacy, a number of scholars in political
culture and democratization have developed several theoretical mod els (Diamond
1999). However, there is room for further theoretical development.

In this article, the writer has attempted to explicate the recent empirical
evidence of democratic political learning that informed understanding about
democracy contributes to citizens' support for democracy. In particular, using the
theories of institutional legitimacy and social learning, that democratic
understanding is associated with political support for democracy. Moreover, these
theories indicate that the relationship follows a concave shape with a positive
slope, because informed understanding about democracy works as a biased
framework
for evaluating democracy and authoritarianism, thereby enhancing the
crystallization of political orientations in favor of the former and opposed to the
latter. Finally, applying social learning theories, the positive relation ship between
democratic understanding and support is contextual in that regime type affects the
ways that informed the citizen to formulate attitude towards the democracy and
authoritarianizm.

CONCLUSION

From the start, we should make ourselves more aware about the
understanding of democracy, then we can evaluate the goverment act that based
on democracy sytem that they use. If that is run well many citizen will support it.
So when the civilian facing a regime that pushed back their right. They can
evaluate and know which is the problem that mainly focused on.
 Thats why understanding the democracy will eliminate any blindness
about political education. And then creating a political environment that allows
the citizen to be critical.

OPINION

For me creating political environment towards the citizen is a positif

activity that has great impact on it. When goverment makes any policy, the citizen
wont react aggresively but evaluate it and try to solve it in calm way. By that
undertsanding democracy and living it is the matter that we should get through of
it. Because as the time pass by, more intellegent people will take the goverment
seat if they good its better but not, and we dont prepared well we just throw
ourselves in danger. Thats why we should begin to understand it and love it to
create a real democracy.
