Quarterly Reflections

As you researched for your paper, what connections did you make between your paper

topic and your project? Articulate that connection as best as possible.

For a while I was stuck on what to write for my research paper. There are so many topics out

there that I wanted to explore and finding just one proved difficult. In the end I narrowed it down

to how parental substance abuse takes a toll on children. My project had the central idea of

substance abuse and while researching I became aware that parental substance abuse actually

takes a huge toll on everyone involved. It sets forth a bad start for the child and can pave the way

to someone abusing drugs later on in their life. I found this connection to be incredible so I

researched it further and made it into my senior research paper.

In what way have you been communicating with your mentor? How are you staying on

track with your mentor as you move towards completing the project?

Communicating with my mentor has never been an issue. I formed a great bond with Mrs.

Waranis last year while I was struggling personally. This bond proved to be very helpful

throughout this project. I met with my mentor whenever we felt necessary. Sometimes it wasnt

even in relation to my project and then throughout our meetings we would find ourselves on the

topic. I meet with Mrs. Waranis regularly and stay in communication with her via email. We are

always discussing ideas and how to make this project really have an effect on someone.

What action steps do you need to take during 3rd quarter to finalize your project (knowing

that all projects must be completed by April 30)? If your project is complete, assess the

final outcome.
During Quarter 3 I will need to finalize everything for my project. First I will need to set a date

for the presentation. Secondly, I need to choose which class I will want to deliver my message to.

Following the presentation most of my time will be used to finish my website and senior

presentation.
