Residential Rebate Application

Qualifications:
• Qualifying measures and their rebate values are subject to change. Visit http://www.siliconvalleypower.com/rebates
or call (408) 244-SAVE (7283) to verify your efficiency measure qualifies for a rebate BEFORE purchase or installation.

• When applicable, obtain necessary permit through the City of Santa Clara Permit Center. Please visit
http://santaclaraca.gov/community/pc_license.html or call (408) 615-2400. City of Santa Clara permit must have final
approval (for requested measures only) in order to receive rebate.

• Qualifying products must be installed and operating in a residence receiving electricity in the City of Santa Clara from
Silicon Valley Power.

• Offer is valid on new product sales beginning July 1, 2010 until available funds run out.

• Silicon Valley Power reserves the right to verify both the new product sale/installation and (if applicable) the recycling
of the old product before a rebate is issued.

• Application Form must be signed and postmarked within 60 days from date of purchase.

• Applicant must submit the Application Form and Rebate Calculation Section along with a copy of the receipt, paid
invoice, or contract for the product being installed to:

Please Note:
• Rebate will appear as a one time credit on the Silicon Valley Power portion of the City of Santa Clara Municipal
Utilities bill or in the case of insulation, whole house fans, solar attic fans, and pool pumps a check will be given upon
inspection of the product.

• Please allow 1 to 2 billing cycles from mailing date for bill credit. If your credit has not been received after two
(2) billing cycles, please contact SVP at (408) 244-SAVE (7283), Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or
email questions to cutcosts@siliconvalleypower.com.

• Discrepancies can invalidate the rebate application.

• Silicon Valley Power is not responsible for items delayed or lost in the mail.

 REBATE DESCRIPTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
REFRIGERATOR PURCHASE AND RECYCLING
Replace and recycle a preexisting refrigerator with a new
ENERGY STAR® qualified model and receive a combined
$85 rebate.
- Old refrigerator must be in working order.
- Old refrigerator must be recycled through the CITY OF
SANTA CLARA RECYCLING PROGRAM at:

- Old refrigerator cannot be kept, resold or donated.
- Offer is only valid for replacing

a new ENERGY STAR qualified model
- New housing is ineligible. Replacement refrigerator only.

One (1) rebates per Silicon Valley Power utility account for
refrigerator replacement and recycling rebate.
REFRIGERATOR/FREEZER RECYCLING PROGRAM
- Recycle your old refrigerator and/or freezer and receive
a $35 rebate.
- No application required for recycling only.
- Old refrigerators/freezers must be in working order and
must be recycled through the CITY OF SANTA CLARA
RECYCLING PROGRAM at:

Up to two (2) Refrigerator/Freezer Recycling rebates
per Silicon Valley Power utility account.
SOLAR ATTIC FAN
Install a solar attic fan and receive a $100 rebate.
- The solar attic fan must be purchased and installed to
receive the rebate.
- Rebate on the improvement of existing homes only.
- Applicable building permits from the City of Santa Clara
Permit Center may be required.
Projects will be inspected to verify installation prior to
check issuance.
One (1) solar attic fan rebate per Silicon Valley Power
utility account.
ATTIC INSULATION
Insulate your home’s attic to receive a rebate up to $175.
- Rebate amount is equal to receipt amount or $175,
whichever is less.
- Insulation must be installed in at least 50% of the
total attic space.
- Must meet a minimum insulation value of R-30 or greater.
- Customers may install the attic insulation themselves
or hire a contractor for that service.
- Projects that involve remodeling, tearing down walls, etc.,
will require a building permit. It is the applicant’s
responsibility to determine and meet any inspection and
building requirements.
- Metallic foil, radiant barrier, reflective, or foil insulation does
not qualify. If the home has a flat roof (with no attic), rigid
foam board installed when a new roof is installed qualifies
for the rebate.
- SVP will retain no liability for contractor nonperformance
or late installation.
- Rebate on the improvement of existing homes only.
- New construction is not eligible.

One (1) attic insulation rebate per Silicon Valley Power
utility account.
CEILING FAN
Purchase an ENERGY STAR® qualified ceiling fan
and receive a $35 rebate per fan.
- ENERGY STAR® logo from packaging must be
attached with the application.
- For all purchases/units please complete one line on
the Application Form under Section 2: Rebate
Product Information.
Projects may be inspected to verify installation prior
to bill credit.
Up to three (3) ceiling fan rebates per Silicon Valley
Power utility account.

ROOM AIR CONDITIONER PURCHASE & RECYCLING WHOLE HOUSE FAN

Replace and recycle a preexisting room air conditioner

with a new ENERGY STAR® qualified room air
conditioner and receive a combined $50 rebate.
- Old room air conditioner must be in working order.
- Old unit must be recycled through the CITY OF SANTA
CLARA RECYCLING PROGRAM at:

- Old air conditioner cannot be kept, resold or donated.
- Offer is only valid for replacing an existing room air
conditioner and only in conjunction with recycling of the
preexisting air conditioner.
- Room air conditioner must be a window unit, not a mobile
unit.
One (1) rebate per Silicon Valley Power utility account
for the room air conditioner replacement and recycling rebate.
ROOM AIR CONDITIONER RECYCLING
Cool your house with a whole house fan and get up to a
$200 rebate. Rebate will be paid at actual cost of fan and
installation or $200, whichever is less.
- The whole house fan must move at least 1,000 cubic feet
of air per minute (CFM) and be permanently installed to
be eligible for a rebate.
- Rebate on the improvement of existing homes only.
- New construction is not eligible.
- Applicant is responsible for obtaining building permits
from the City of Santa Clara Permit Center.
Projects will be inspected to verify installation prior to
check issuance.
One (1) whole house fan rebate per Silicon Valley Power
utility account.

- Recycle your old room air conditioner and receive

a $25 rebate.
- No application required for recycling only.
- Old room air conditioner must be in working order and
must be must be recycled through the CITY OF SANTA
CLARA RECYCLING PROGRAM at:

POOL PUMP

Replace an existing pool pump and motor with a new high

efficiency two-speed or a new high efficiency variable
speed motor to receive a $200 rebate.

- All pumps and motors must be new.

- Equipment and materials must meet or exceed all
applicable local, state, and federal standards.
- Rebates are for motors 3 horsepower or less installed on
existing in-ground pools only.
- Above-ground pool, pond, pool cleaner/booster, spa and
water feature pumps do not qualify for the rebate.
- Rewinding of motors does not qualify.

check issuance.
