Research in Education: A Foundation Course

stakeholders in the field of education. The course will provide you with an opportunity to:
engage in critical reflection, and explore the purpose and use of research;
Duration understand the process of designing and implementing qualitative research in
Module I: April 7 and 8, 2017 education;
Deadline for registration: March 31, 2017 learn about the significance of literature review and the development of a
Module II: April 21 and 22, 2017 conceptual framework;
Deadline for registration: April 14, 2017 identify a range of qualitative research methods used in educational research;
Module III: May 5 and 6, 2017 develop appropriate knowledge for data collection and analysis; and
Deadline for registration: April 28, 2017 discover strategies for communicating research through writing and
publication.

Course Fee Dr Nelofer Halai is a Professor at AKU-IED and her research interests lie in three areas -

Dr Dilshad Ashraf is an Associate Professor at AKU-IED and specialises in curriculum,

education. She has extensive experience of conducting and supervising qualitative research

E-mail: ied.pdck@aku.edu Dr Nosheen Ali is an Assistant Professor at AKU-IED, and her specialisation is in Social
Timings: Monday-Friday, Studies and Pakistan Studies education. Dr Ali earned her PhD in Development Sociology
10:00 am-12:00 pm and 2:00-4:00 pm from Cornell University. Her research and publications span a wide terrain from
environmental policy to poetic tradition, as well as the role of information technology in
www.aku.edu/iedpk social change. Dr Ali has previously taught courses at UC Berkeley, New York University,
