To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure to write this letter of reference regarding Emily Stewart. Ms. Stewart is currently a teacher
candidate teaching 5th grade at Sam Hughes Elementary School in the Tucson Unified School District. Sam
Hughes is one of Tucsons oldest schools in a historic neighborhood.

I have come to appreciate the many fine qualities Ms. Stewart has brought to the classroom and
educational community. She began the semester assuming responsibilities that allowed her to interact
with the students, participate in classroom routines, and supervise students. Emily has shown dedication to
her students, the school, and the families. She attends staff meetings, has helped conduct parent
conferences, organized grade level activities, and has assumed co-teaching and full teaching
responsibilities.

Ms. Stewart was assigned with Mrs. Barry, a STEM teacher, and the two have developed a positive
relationship. Emily has also benefitted by collaborating with the other fifth-grade teacher, Mrs. Grogan.
This set-up has allowed Emily to work with both teachers to meet the needs of all students. She has done a
good job to acquaint herself with the fifth-grade curriculum along with district and state standards. Ms.
Stewart thinks through her lessons and continually refines her lesson delivery skills. She frequently
incorporates technology to enhance her lesson, resulting in high time on task.

Ms. Stewart has many skills to offer the educational community. She has met expectations and
demonstrated that she can maintain continuity in the classroom. Emily has not only maintained continuity
in the students learning process, but has also grown in her ability to handle behavioral problems. Emily has
been reflective in her work, taking what she has learned through her teaching experiences and synthesizing
the information into her ever-growing teaching philosophy. She encourages a positive, yet business-like
environment that sets high expectations for all students. The feeling tone is orderly, safe and conducive for
learning.

Ms. Stewart is very professional in all aspects. She is always on time to school, dresses appropriately, and
has a very mature and professional presence with the students, the families, and the staff. She has
demonstrated that she is qualified to be hired as a full-time teacher. Emily has a caring attitude, positive
work ethic, and passion to teach in any district. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
