UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI MARA CHE620/CPE520: PROJECT MANAGEMENT ASSIGNMENT

GROUP ASSIGNMENT (20 % OF THE TOTAL COURSE ASSESSMENT)

The management of your company has a plan to expand the company business by building a new
chemical industry. As a senior engineer, you are required to provide a project proposal for a new
chemical plant. You need to prepare a project management report and present your findings to the
investors. For that purpose; you need to team up 5-6 students per group.

**You are allow to propose other project that is not related to chemical plant but you must ensure
that your project consist of any process (producing any product or providing services).

1. Propose a chemical plant, including the suggested name of plant, product and suggested location.
(Compare three type of products and three propose location, then, choose one product and one
location). Apply project management concept in this selection process.

2. Perform the feasibility study of market, process and technology.

3. After you have selected 1 project, provide the company set-up and organization. Describe the job
specification with the number of staff required for each specification.

4. Then, construct a mind map showing the overall planning of your project towards ensuring the
project success and convert the mind map into work breakdown structure (WBS).

5. Construct the project scheduling (PERT/CPM/Gantt chart).

6. Provide the project budgeting, use current data in literature or internet for costing.

7. Assess termination procedure of the project.

8. Any extra information that is relevant for this proposal.

Present your project at the end of semester.

Submission Requirement:

1. A hardcopy full report (please include your project charter)

2. Hardcopy presentation slide and hardcopy project charter / softcopy video presentation and
hardcopy project charter (depends on lecturer request) during presentation day.

3. Late submission will be deducted 10% mark per day.

4. Softcopy (full report, presentation slide, project charter) in a CD representative from class,
please collect all the required information before submit it to me.
