History of the World

Timeline Events
13.7 billion years ago (point zero) Singularity erupts (Probable big bang). All the
energy that will ever exist, is created.
13.8 thousand years later (+13800) First hydrogen atoms (First galaxy emerges)
300 million years later(+300,000,000) Hydrogen collides to form helium(first stars
forms)
1.7 billion years later First 25 elements begin to form in stars
2 million years later Stars blast, forming Supernovas (Heavy elements
such as Au, Ag, Cu, U are formed)
9 billion years later(4.7 billion years ago) Sun is born
4.5 billion years ago Early earth emerged (A day is just of 6
hrs, fully covered with lava)
Gravity lets the heavier mass settle
down, this churning resulting into the
formation of a magnetic field around
earth
An object of the size of Mars collides
with earth at 25000 miles/hr. Earth
swallows most of the impact, but a spray
of molten debris is whipped of into the
space, within 1-year gravity gathers this
debris orbiting around the earth into a
sphere, and Moon is born.
The Moon keeps Earth steady. Its
gravitational pull prevents the earth
from wobbling, saving us from wild
climate swings. In addition, the collision
that formed the moon tilted the earth on
its axis, giving earth a key ingredient to
life, Seasons.
4.4 billion years ago There was presence of water vapour, steam in
the atmosphere, trapped. For millions of years
then, as the earth cools down, rain pours. It
forms lakes, puddles, and eventually our oceans.
3.8 billion years ago Beneath the surface of our primeval oceans, a
revolution took place. Six simple elements
including Hydrogen (from big bang), and carbon,
Nitrogen, and Oxygen from stars combines to
form key elements that will form major life
forms, including humans.
3.7 billion years ago(700,000 yrs. after Life on earth begins. Bacteria emerge.
formation of earth
2.5 billion years ago Some very special Bacteria figures out a
way to harness Suns energy, and lets
out an important waste product,
Oxygen. Our primeval oceans containing
huge amounts of Iron, combines with
Oxygen to produce rust. This rust starts
to deposit on the ocean bed, and billions
of years later, it will form our deposits of
Iron, and steel.
When all the Iron converts to rust, these
bacteria started producing huge
amounts of Oxygen, and this Oxygen
escapes to the atmosphere. Some
bacteria learn to live on Oxygen
becoming more efficient, producing 20
times more energy.
Over the next 2 billion years, life
becomes more complex, sky becomes
blue, and so do the oceans that reflect
them. Large solid continents begin to
appear. Earth begins to look familiar.

550 million years ago Oxygen levels rose from zero to 13%.
Take a deep breath for life on Earth is
about to go wild! Cambrian explosion,
biologys version of Big Bang, takes
place.
Within a span of next 30 million years,
complex life forms emerge.
The first bony fish, our direct ancestors
are born. They evolve jaws, spine and
other organs that modify to form
humans.
Around 400 million years ago All life forms remain under sea, but that
all began to change after Oxygen atoms
combined to form Ozone, and Ozone
layer developed. Plants began to grow
on earth. After plant life, the first
animals (amphibians) begin to crawl to
earth.
The final tie to oceans cut when
Amphibians evolved into reptiles, and
they no longer needed water to give
birth.
250 million years ago An apocalypse unfolds. The divinity of
explosion in life forms during the
Cambrian explosion stops in its tracks.
The greatest volcanic explosion gives out
carbon, which covers all earth, and
chokes all life forms. More than 70% life
forms go extinct in the Permian
Extinction.
New life forms in the form of Dinosaurs
emerge, to reign for the next 160 million
years. Hard wood forests begin to
appear. Moons gravity finally settles the
earths day to a period of 24hrs.
At the start of the Dinosaur age, the
earth had a single continent called
Pangea, but they begin to separate.
Africa breaks from South America,
creating what was known as the gulf
between the old and the new worlds,
65 million years ago A 6-mile wide asteroid slams into earth. A dust
cloud blocks out the Sun. Temperatures
plummet. The reign of the dinosaurs ended.
Mammals began to rise.
50 million years ago Americas and Africa are fully separate. Egypt is
at the bottom of the sea, where calcium deposits
takes place, and limestone forms. This limestone
will be use to build the Pyramids.
10 million years ago Colorado river carves out the Grand Canyon.
Himalayas emerge, disrupting weather patterns,
shifting world towards a colder climate.
7 million years ago Grasslands appear, almost simultaneously
around the world. These will have a profound
effect on Human history. Our primate ancestor
Apes now had fewer trees with larger gaps. This
habitat forced them to walk on two legs, and
keep a straight head, to look for predators.
2.6 million years ago Hominids, our two legged ancestors, found
silicon stones. They now headed towards the
first technological revolution. The Stone age
began.
800,000 years ago Our ancestors now had complete control over
the use of fire. With fire, opens the Gateway of
Technology.
200,000 years ago The modern human had fully taken shape. The
Larynx or the Voice Box, which is high up in our
ancestors, descends. Complex sounds were now
possible. Humans began to speak. Information
can now be shared among selves, and across
generations.
100,000 years ago Humans now began to travel. They spread from
Africa to whole of Eurasia. However, just as man
began to learn to live, Ice age began. Nature
began to test us.
50,000 years ago Glaciers begin to advance down the North Pole,
while man remained agile on its conquest to
conquer earth, entering China and Australia.
30,000 years ago Humans were now present from Europe to the
North of Siberia. We survived the Ice age, and
took an intellectual leap, the first paintings
emerge, and the thought process began.
10,000 years ago Ice Age ends. The glaciers begin to recede. The
map as we know it. Lakes and rivers began to
carve. Nile in Egypt, Tigris & Euphrates in
Mesopotamia, Indus in Pakistan, and Hwang ho
in China, Modern civilisations began to emerge,
as permanent settlements begin. We learn to
plant seeds. The seeds came from the
unheralded hero of human history, Grass.
Domestication of plants and animals takes place.
6000 years ago Cities began to emerge. Crops were kings, as a
failure to protect them resulted in famine. To
keep track of them, our ancestors developed the
first writings. Armies built to protect them. And
to administer them, the beginning of politics.
5000 years ago Trading began. The first civilisations
arose on the backs of a lowly creature in
the modern world, the donkey.
The donkey caravan was the Inter-state
highway and the High-speed
communication networks of its day.
There routes lay the foundation of the
modern world, moving goods, ideas, and
stories. It was a beginning towards
globalisation.
By 2000 B.C., humans have gone from
humble huts to building great
monuments. Bitumen became the first
petroleum product to be exploited, used
in cementing the massive structures.
The Sumerians based there calculations
on the no. 12, hence the time division.
They also invented wheel at around that
time.
1200 B.C. Humanity enters the Iron age.
600 B.C. The cavalry arrives. Humans ride into
battles for the first time. The taming of
horse gave him power, but pairing them
with Iron weapons made him nearly
unstoppable, Empires emerge. Persian
Empire (500 BC), Alexandrian Empire
(329BC), Han Chinese Empire (50BC),
Roman Empire (117 AD).
As empires grew, so do new beliefs.
Monotheism rises. Judaism, from which
Christianity emerged, spreads. Hinduism
& Buddhism also arise.
The five modern religions are all rooted
in this era.
Silk route trading developed.
