To use table 6.4 for approximate equal span: uniform distribution loading, we should check
Clause 6.1.3 (c) is met.
Condition i : Bay area = 8m * 27m = 216m2 > 30m2 OK.
Condition ii : Qk / Gk = 3 / (4.375+2) = 0.47 < 1.25 OK.
Condition iii: Qk = 3 < 5 kN/m2 OK.
Table 6.4 could be applied for Slab on Typical Floor.

6.1.3.(c) Simplification of load arrangements

In principle a slab should be designed to withstand the most unfavourable

arrangements of design loads; however, slabs will normally be able to satisfy this
requirement if they are designed to resist the moments and forces arising from the
single-load case of maximum design load on all spans or panels provided the
following conditions are met:
(i) In a one-way spanning slab the area of each bay exceeds 30 m 2. In this
context, a bay
means a strip across the full width of a structure bounded on the other two
sides by
lines of support (see figure 6.5);
(ii) The ratio of the characteristic imposed load to the characteristic dead load
does not
exceed 1.25; and
(iii) The characteristic imposed load does not exceed 5 kN/m 2 excluding
partitions.
Where analysis is carried out for the single load case of all spans loaded, the resulting
support moments except those at the supports of cantilevers should be reduced by
20%, with a consequential increase in the span moments.
The resulting bending moment envelope should satisfy the provisions of clause
5.2.9.1. No further redistribution should be carried out.
Where a span or panel is adjacent to a cantilever of significant length, the possibility
should be considered of the case of slab unloaded/cantilever loaded.(Redistribution is
not considered in this design)
