PEUGEOT SERVICING
PEUGEOT SERVICING
The maintenance cycle of your 307 is based on level A (including the replacement of the engine oil, the oil filter and a set
of checks) and level C services (level A service + workshop operations carried out every 36,000/40,000 miles [60 000 km])
in accordance with the tables on the following pages.
So that the driving conditions and your style of driving may be taken into account, your 307 is fitted with a service indica-
tor which modulates the intervals for level A service:
every 20,000 miles (30 000) km maximum or 2 years for petrol engines,
every 12,000 miles (20 000 km) maximum or 2 years for direct injection diesel engines,
The frequency of level A services specific to your vehicle will be determined by three parameters:
the number of engine revolutions,
the engine oil temperature,
periods when the vehicle is not in use.
Depending on these three elements, the service indicator will suggest a service interval which is more or less the same as
the initial programme. Depending on the conditions of use, one or more level A services may be carried out between two
level C services.
Depending on the distance recorded, your dealer may offer to carry out the level C service to avoid the visits being too close
together.
24-06-2002
19
PEUGEOT SERVICING
The extension of the service intervals means that the engine oil must be checked regularly: topping up of the oil
between two oil changes is normal.
It is for this reason, and for your complete peace of mind, that your PEUGEOT dealer will carry out a levels check
and top-up between routine services, at the time or distance intervals specified.
This will be undertaken free of charge, provided that the maintenance of your vehicle had been carried out within
the Peugeot network. At the same time, your Peugeot dealer will offer you a PEUGEOT safety check, for a nominal
fee.
A Peugeot professional will carry out a quick check, and will top up the fluid levels if necessary (oil up to 1 litre, coolant and
screen wash).
The date of the intermediate visit is not shown by the service indicator. It is to be carried out between two services.
If the oil level is too low, there is a risk of significant damage to the engine: check the engine oil level at least every
3,000 miles (5 000 km).
The extended service intervals have been made possible by developments to our vehicles and to the lubricants:
THUS IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU USE ONLY ENGINE LUBRICANTS THAT ARE APPROVED AND RECOMMENDED
BY THE MANUFACTURER (see pages on 'Lubricants').

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR
APPROVED LUBRICANTS
The oils which appear in the table
opposite are suitable for most pur-
poses.
The diagram opposite states the
optimum range of viscosity depen-
ding on the temperatures at which
the oils are to be used.
It is also possible to use "superior
quality" synthetic oils.
In the absence of semi-synthetic or
synthetic oils, oils of API SH/SJ qua-
lity (for petrol engines), or CD/CF
quality (for diesel engines) may be
used by following the "Arduous
Conditions" servicing schedule,
which specifies shorter intervals.

Advice on operation
Place the air flow control at a level sufficient to ensure a good renewal of air in the passenger compartment.
The ''OFF'' position cuts off all the air circulation in the passenger compartment.
Note: only use the ''OFF'' position occasionally (risk of condensation).
For perfectly even air distribution, take care not to obstruct the exterior air intake grilles, the vents and the air ducts under
the front seats, as well as the air extractor located in the boot. Check that the pollen filter is in good condition.

CHILD SEATS
Although one of PEUGEOT's main concerns when designing your vehicle, the safety of your children also depends on you.
For maximum safety, please follow these precautions:
- All children under the age of 10 must travel in a special approved child seat*, adapted to their weight, in a seat fitted with
a seat belt.
- Front passenger seat*: children under the age of 10 must not travel in the 'forwards facing' position**.
The 'rearwards facing' position is permitted. In this position, it is compulsory to disarm the passenger air bag.
After carrying out numerous tests, PEUGEOT recommends the following systems:
Up to 18 months (up to 13 kg)
1 " Rmer Babysure": installed in the rear-facing position in the front or in the rear using a three-point seat belt.
In the front, the passenger seat must be in the 'mid-way' position on the slide.
24-06-2002
64
YOUR 307 IN DETAIL
Remember, even for short journeys, to fasten the three-point seat belts or the
child seat straps, keeping the slack in relation to the child's body to a minimum.
To prevent the doors from opening accidentally, use the child-lock.
Also, do not open the rear windows more than a third.
