ABOUT THE COVER

The Eucharist has always been the point of unity of the IHMS community.
In the Eucharistic celebration, the whole community unites in adoring the
Lord present in the sacred Host. Christs real presence in the Eucharist is
our hope and glory towards a perfect community of disciples. Eucharist
is the Sacrament in which Jesus Christ gives Himself His Body and Blood
for us, so that we too might give ourselves to Him in love and be united
with Him in the Holy Communion. In the same way, the Eucharist invites
the whole community of believers to be one in mind and heart in saying
praises and thanksgiving to God.

Habemus Episcopos!
At the erection anniversaries of the two dioceses of Bohol, 75th for Tagbilaran and 30th for
Talibon, Vatican raised two Boholano priests to the order of episcopacy Bishops Alberto Uy of Ubay
and Socrates Mesiona of Sevilla. Since both bishops are alumni of IHMS, LEGITE took the honor to conduct
an interview with them.

YOU are free to choose, but you are not free from the consequences of your choice This is the best quote to
describe my college seminary life. Within five years, my IHMS sojourn has indeed been prosperous. Looking
back, I can picture myself that very moment when I learned that I passed the seminary entrance examina-
tions. I had many doubts then. I asked myself: Is this the path I should choose or should I take another track? I was aware that
choosing a path is indeed difficult because in every choice, there is a risk. Yet, I was aware that if risks are not taken, success
will never beacon. So I made a decision: I entered IHMS.

Prosperous
Journey
Sem. Patrick Joyce S. Redulla

My first days in the Seminary were a witness to my crying in the dark. Besides missing my parents, everything around
me was strange: the system, the schedule, the people. Worse, as I was a neophyte, I could not express myself to any of my
twenty-three fellow seminarians. I thought my journey would end even as it had just started. But as the days went on, I grad-
ually learned to reach out.Consequently, I became close to my brother seminarians; my pre-college classmates became my
brother-friends.
After pre-college, 8 of my classmates did not survive the formation. I was sad, but I was also happy because I was
lucky to be one of the 16 seminarians who advanced to first-year college. That year, together with my 15 co-sojourners, I
received the cloak of unworthiness the sotana and surplice. Inspired as I was, my vocation was still shaken along with the
7.2-magnitude earthquake that devastated Bohol. Yet, I chose not to be devastated; I chose to become a beacon of hope not
only to my brother seminarians but also to my fellow Boholanos.
As I advanced to second-year college, I saw that from 16, my class was trimmed down to 12. With two regent seminarians
added, my class survived the tribulations by standing firm and unified. In third-year, we were radically trimmed down to 4,
but 4 others were added making us 8. That year, I was appointed Head Commissioner on Sports. I tried to become effective:
I initiated sports program for the community. And now, Im about to graduate with my 7 brothers.
Within these years of my seminary formation, I have adapted myself to the hectic schedule and activities, and bend-
ed myself under the seminary rules. I have endured the sacrifices that come with the formation. Looking back at how I started
with my original classmates, I could say that surviving in the formation is like getting through the hole of a needle. But if you
can pass through the hole of that needle, then such survival will make you big and full as a person.
As a seminarian who has survived the formation, let me spread an inspiration with my realizations. First, I learned that en-
tering the Seminary is not a waste of time. Someone once told me: Bro, you should not waste time studying in the seminary!
Definitely I have proven him wrong. As I lived my life in the Seminary, I came to love and enjoy every activity given to us by our
priest formators. When things got too tough for me, I told myself: Keep trying even if it is hard! Being a formandee is not just
all about following the rules and regulations but also about reflecting on each rule because every rule has wisdom behind it.
Second, the Seminary has taught me to devote myself to prayer and study. Studying and praying inside the Seminary
have given me a lot of opportunities throughout my whole life as a seminarian. When problems come especially in the academ-
ic formation, the only thing that I can lean on is prayer. It is there that I can see hope amidst the difficulties in life.
Finally, and the most important is that all that God has taught me in the Seminary, points to Him and is about Him.
Every aspect of my growth and education is for Him. The care with which he changed my heart has allowed me to know Him
and receive His love more, and has left me in respect of Him. Gods desire for me is to reflect and know His love and to proclaim
His goodness and faithfulness to those around me; and that He gave me the seminary community to help me improve my life
as an individual and as a Catholic to be more faithful to the teachings of Christ, so that I will be worthy to fulfill His desire. There
is no better lesson to learn and that is in the seminary - in Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary.

service of the parishioners in dire need. I am hopeful that this unity will inspire us in our future ministry.

LEGITE
FEATURE IN UNITY
Sem. Kim Louise A. Laganson and Sem. Silvester Ferdie D. Lansang

Selfishness and laziness, pride and stress, miscommunication and misunderstanding,

and most of all disunity are the common causes for an organization to crumble. These cul-
prits are like termites that gradually gnaw on a foundation, and gradually but surely weaken
it until it disintegrates. These can really easily destroy an organization. But not LEGITE.

LEGITE,
the official seminary publication, is not just an organization of seminarians but a group of
aspiring writers. These writers make the LEGITE, known as the heart of the Seminary, beat
and be alive with the news and trivia regularly posted on the LEGITE news board, as well
as with the periodic magazine-type issues that feature seminarians thoughts, reflections, art, imaginations, and reports. An
addition to the already tedious seminary formation, the work of the staffers requires not just the talent and skill in writing,
but also a stretch of sacrifices that could require adding another hour to the already 24 hours a day, or another day to the
already seven days a week. If that is so, it could have been that even STRESS alone could topple down the LEGITE.
