Curriculum Odds and Ends

Math: Weve been measuring!! Weve been introduced to inches,
feet, and yard we will be using these measurements to make
comparisons.
Writing: Six Traits of Writing... We are finding important facts on
an animal in a text and using that information to write
expository/informational paragraphs. Ask your child what animal
they will be researching!!
Spelling: No Spelling next week!! We will be working on dictionary
skills such as ABC order and guidewords that help us to pinpoint
the page to find our words.
Literacy: We will be starting Cinderellas from around the world.
Next week will be the original Cinderella. We will be looking at
common characteristics of fairy tales.
Social Studies: The students will be learning about the
responsibilities of our governments leaders.
Help! Help! Help!... Our music teacher is in need
of parent volunteers to help with our second grade musical
decorations. Please contact him if you are interested in
helping. Our theme is famous movies!! Our class musical will
be on May 9th.
Next week our library day has
been changed from Thursday to Monday.
Please help your child to remember to
return their books!!
Our class is in need of pencils. Weve used the
last of our supplies. If you are able to help us
out we would greatly appreciate it!!
Pass it on Donation Challenge!!
Goodwill and the Chicago Blackhawks are sponsoring
a challenge from April 1-30. Bring any donations to
your local Goodwill with Oakwoods name and district.
We could win a visit from a Chicago Blackhawks
player. Lets do this!!

Dates To Remember: April 10- Plunge into Fitness forms due, April 14- No school, April
17- Book fair week (our day is April 17 1:30-2), April 20- family reading night, April 24-
12:00 dismissal
