Subject Area Developmental Profile


English literature
According to US school system, the age of grade 8-9th students is
Length of Time 13-14. According to Eriksons stages of psychosocial development
theory, 12-18 ages children face the task of identity vs. role
10 period (1 hour each) confusion. An adolescents main task is developing a sense of self.
Two weeks They struggle with questions such as Who am I? and What do I
Grade Level want to do with my life? They will be unsure of their identity and
confused about the future.

Main Idea (Claim)


Literature: Element of fiction is Plot, Setting, Character, Symbol, Point of View, and Theme. Students
will able to identify element of fiction.

Biblical Perspective and Interdisciplinary Connections

All truth is Gods truth. Everything created by God including language and writing story. Bible also
has many fictions story. People are creative so that they started to play with words. They write fiction
story, poem, and epic etc. Story, poem, and epic cannot be made without element of fiction. God is
great because he is the one who gives knowledge and wisdom to write fiction story. So, we can glorify
God by learning element of fiction and maybe writing fiction story.

1. Everything was created by God. God used his words/language to create everything. (Genesis 1)
2. God created the language and divided it into many other languages. (Genesis 11:1-9, the tower
of Babel).
3. Bible is written language.
4. Bible is also one of the work of literature and it has narrative story like Genesis chapter 1.
5. Bible contains fiction story such as the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30).
6. In every work of literature or in the fiction stories, it has the elements of the fiction. Without it
the story or myth or epic or the writing cannot happen.
7. Since the bible also contains variety of fictions story, we can also see ourselves in the story. We
can connect our lives in it.
8. By studying literature (the element of fiction), we can stimulate our minds and write stories.
9. We can glorify God because He is the one, who created language (everything), and it is very
beautiful because we are able to speak, have relation with one other.
