COMPANY PROFILE

HISTORY

Pacific Paint (BOYSEN) Philippines, Inc. (PPBPI) was founded in 1953 as a repacker of
paint and lacquer thinners under the trade name Columbus. The company was formed by brothers
Mr. Jimmy Ongking and Mr. Vicente Ongsue together with Mr. Ung Han Leong. The company is
driven by teamwork, respect for life, commitment to excellence and self-enhancement. In 1958,
the company expanded its operations and started paint production with the introduction of
NATION House Paints, an economy grade paint.

In 1960, the company acquired the license to manufacture Boysen Paints in the
Philippines from the Walter N. Boysen Company of Oakland, California, USA. This access to
new technology gave birth to a comprehensive line of premium grade Boysen decorative coatings
for architectural and some industrial applications. Through the foresight and dedication of its
founders and all the pioneer employees, Pacific Paint was able to capture the lions share of
premium quality paint market in the Philippines in the mid 1970s outselling all leading U.S.
brand paints that also operated production facilities in the country. The most rewarding
experience for the company is to find out from The Coatings Agenda Asia-Pacific 2001 that
Pacific Paint ranked no. 58 in the worlds top paint makers.

Originally symbolized by the American eagle from its parent brand, Boysen adapted the
use of the Philippine eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi) not only to localize the brand but to also be a
source of national pride. Now, after six decades of existence, the Boysen brand continues to be
one of the most iconic symbols in the country.

Boysen has also proven itself as the industry leader in product innovation with its
constant development of new products to suit specific market needs, especially in environment
friendly paints. Through constant progress and innovation, Pacific Paint keeps elevating the level
of confidence bestowed by its customers. In 2000, Pacific Paint commissioned a fully integrated
state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Trece Martires, Cavite to add on to its plant in Quezon
City. A new manufacturing facility will be soon operational in Dasmarinas, Cavite which will
make PPBPI the biggest and most modern paint producer in the country with an optimum
capacity of up to 1 million liters of paint a day. This manufacturing prowess places the company
at an even better position to service its customers with a reliable supply and consistent product
quality of Boysen Paints. To better service its customers, a Technical Service and Project
Management Department has been installed to provide assistance to consumers with product
inquiries and product specifications, instruction of proper surface preparation and painting
techniques.

In 1995, Boysen Paints was awarded the PS Mark Distinction of Quality. Boysen Paints
quality is recognized and well accepted not only locally but also in other countries, as seen by the
steady growth of its exports to China, Guam, and Saipan.

In its more than 50 years of prominence in the Philippine building materials industry,
Boysen has earned milestones for delivering high quality paint and innovative products. It is the
first Filipino paint company to be given by SPIK (i.e., also known as the Chemical Industries
Association of the Philippines) the privilege to use the Responsible Care logo. Boysen also
belongs to the Coatings Agenda Top 50 Paint Companies in the World in terms of volume
produced.

In its July 2010 Issue, Coatings World ranked Boysen Paints as the 51st largest paint
company in the world. Boysen was one of only two paint companies from the ASEAN region and
the only Filipino company to make the list. Boysen Paints is also a recipient of the Readers
Digest Most Trusted Brand for ten straight years since 2006, the Platinum status makes it one of
only two paint companies in the Asia-Pacific region given the distinction.
FACILITIES

A. Marketing Office

The Marketing Office serves as the headquarters for our

Marketing Executives. With a proper venue to
handle customer needs, we are able to serve our
clients better.

B. Technical Service

BOYSEN has a Technical Service and Project

Management Department (TSD) to handle product-
related concerns, technical consultations, paint
technology seminars, and actual hands-on training to
help promote product awareness and proper application.

Interested parties may coordinate directly with our TSD

Representatives for scheduling.

C. Tank Farm
 This facility gives BOYSEN the ability to import/store
raw materials in large volumes, ensuring
sufficient inventories to meet growing market
demands.

D. Warehouse Facilities

BOYSEN has set up strategic warehouse

facilities to improve distribution to its
dealers worldwide.

F. Production Facilities

In 2000, the company commissioned this fully integrated

state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Trece Martires,
Cavite. This is situated on a 10-hectare property with a
rated capacity of about 26 million gallons per year. It is one
of the biggest and most modern paint factory in Southeast
Asia.

A. BOYSEN Permacoat Latex


DESCRIPTION: BOYSEN Permacoat
Latex Paint is a 100% acrylic latex paint with
excellent hiding, durability and dirt pick-up
resistance. It finishes painting jobs in less coats,
yet lasts longer than other brands allowing you
to save a lot on time, effort, worry and money.
PRINCIPAL USES: For interior and exterior
such as concrete, stucco, bricks plaster, hollow
blocks, drywall surfaces, and properly primed
wood.
PRACTICAL COVERAGE: 25-30 square meter
/ 4 liters / coat
SURFACE DRY: Thirty (30) minutes
DRY THROUGH: Two (2) hours
B. BOYSEN Wallguard Dirt Resisting Latex
DRY FILM THICKNESS: 1-1.5 mils/coat
OVERCOATING INTERVAL: Allow one hour
before recoating.
THINNING: Use as supplied. If necessary, thin

COLORANTS: Use only BOYSEN Latex
Colors for tinting to achieve pastel shades. To
produce dark shades, use factory or Mix and
Match pre-mixed colors. Do not use Hansa
Yellow B-1466 and Toluidine Red B1407 for
exterior applications.
Introducing a new breed of latex paints that has
a very high resistance to dirt, dust, smog and
mildew. It can be painted even in a rigorous
environment where there is a very high
concentration of airborne pollutants.
DESCRIPTION: BOYSEN Wallguard Dirt
Resisting Latex #5715 is suitable to be used near
industrial areas and along highways. It is
specially suited for repainting medium and high-
rise building where the need to maintain a PRINCIPAL USES: Use BOYSEN

C. BOYSEN Primeguard

DESCRIPTION:
BOYSEN Primeguard is a water-based
acrylic maintenance primer designed to have
excellent adhesion and metal passivation.
BOYSEN Primeguard is used where
superior protection and good adhesion on hard-

D. BOYSEN Oil Wood Stain

Rapid Drying - dries in 20-30 minutes,

compared to 8 hours for enamel primers. Recoat
interval is 2 to 4 hours, resulting in faster paint
jobs and significant labor cost savings.

Thermoplastic Nature - Remains flexible over

time. It does not pose problems of intercoat
adhesion and is capable of being topcoated by
most solvent-based home coatings.

Environmentally Safe - It has low odor, is non-
flammable, and does not use hazardous solvents.
It does not contain lead and is non-toxic
compared to traditonal anti-corrosive primers.
Easy Water Cleanup - no need for thinners and
solvent reducers. Tools and painting equipment,
spills and paint drips while still wet can be
cleaned by water and soap solutions.
DESCRIPTION: BOYSEN Oil Wood Stain is
available in various shades to bring out a clear
and natural tone in wood. When clear coated
with BOYSEN Lacquer varnish products,
BOYSEN Oil Wood Stain highlights wood
grains, adds freshness and color, and provides
superior protection.
PRINCIPAL USES: For enhancing wood grain
on interior wood works and other surfaces such
as cabinets, furniture, paneling, etc.

PRACTICAL COVERAGE: 25 - 30 square

absorptivity)
