Basic Operations Guide

September 15, 2012

This guide represents the operations of the US Air Force Virtual Group. USAFvGrp is a virtual
simulation and not associated with the USAF or any real world government agency.

The information contained within is the basics of what you need to get started. We understand
that long documents never get read.

This document is a guide to help you the new recruit acclimate yourself with how things work.

Registration process:

We do have a age requirement of 18 years or older. Why? If you have an issue with setting up your
Kacars [Flight Tracking Software] or any technical issues, you will need to log on to our Team-speak
server to get help. As mature adults we are not inclined to find ourselves having to interact with
underage children. We do not address technical issues using email as it takes forever to resolve any
issue.

Once you have been accepted it is up to you to be motivated to follow through. Far to often people join
a VA out of speculation. They join to see what is inside. Very little is hidden here at USAFvGrp.

It is important for you to make your initial flight as soon as possible. Its like signing a contract. That
first flight seals the deal. You are allocated 36 hours to make this flight, failing to do so will result in
your being dismissed.

General flight operations:

Free flight mode is a charter system which is not dependent on schedules being in place. We have
scheduled flights in place but free flight allows you to create your own routes from your assigned base.

We also have mission based programs, these are structured flights with purpose and must be followed
to the letter.

When you set up a flight it is important you check our airport database to see that your destination is
base pr airport is listed. [Free flight mode only]

While flying in FFM it is to be understood that all flights you create must start and eventually
regardless of the number of legs, must return to your home base. If you have multiple legs your not
restricted to the same aircraft you started with, but you must continue from the location you arrived at.
Example: if you departed KCHS and scheduled to arrive at KDOV, your next leg must start at KDOV
and so forth.

Should you choose to participate in mission program, understand you must complete the mission
before you return to FFM. Whether or not any awards are warranted for a mission is up to the
discretion of command and the level of difficulty.

Your Maiden Flight:

Understand that all flight you make here at USAFvGroup have a minimum flight duration of (1) Hour.

So it follows that the first flight you create must be at minimum one hour in length.

From your home base select a destination from the Airport database under the Flight line drop
menu. We prefer you use the real weather feature of your FS9/X.

Once you arrive at your destination and park, you will file a pirep. Your next flight must either return to
your home base with the same aircraft or you can extend this flight to another destination using a
different aircraft as part of a multi-leg scenario and then return to base. Remembering each new
destination begins at your previous arrival point. No jumping around the map.

Setting up a flight in FFM: (KACARS)

First, you need a flight number. Create one for your flight.

Second, enter your departure and arrival ICAO codes.

Third, check of the charter box in the Kacars.

Enter your Flight level [Numerical only (30000)].

In the comments section, give a brief description of the nature of your flight.

Select and load your intended aircraft.

When you complete your flight you can enter a comment in your pirep with more specific detail of the
nature of your flight.

Please note that structured missions will provide you the details to enter in the kacars.

Schedule routes. If you have the Search by Flight number checked, you just enter the flight number
and it will self populate the kacars.

Basic command structure:

Commander
Chief of Staff
Deputy Chief of Staff

Air Combat Co Special Operations Co Air Mobility Co Global Strike Co

Material Co Space Command

Site Features:

Just about everything you need can be found in the drop down menu. We do not provide aircraft
downloads as there are just far to many to manage and store. You may have a preference or a
payware model. Its just not practical to address all the Air Force assets available.

You should become familiar with site features

Communications:

We use two primary forms of communications. Internal message system called Airmail found in your
Pilot Center and tagged as Pilot Mail. This can send internal messages to any active members or by
going to the settings and checking off the box you can send the same message as an email. The crew
member or staffs email address is hidden from you but non the less the system knows your address.

Team-speak is basically used in dealing with technical issues. Problems with Kacars or FS issues,
things of this nature. We have no way to verify anyone's age, so the only way we would know is if you
need help. This is a catch 22. If you are underage you won't come on TS and consequently you will
just move on.

Major Commands:

You notice the different commands. As of this writing only a couple of these commands are active. (1)
Air Mobility Command (2) Air Combat Command.

You will notice the Space Command. Our version of this command is that of NASA. Space shuttle
operations. This command has been on the drawing board for several months. But the details at this
time is classified and will be revealed when command feels it is appropriate. All we can say at this time
its a platform called Space Shuttle Mission 2007.

Awards:

You will find basic awards in the drop down list. These are general purpose ribbons. Advanced awards
can be earned depending on the nature of the mission you might participate in and awards based on
your activity and contribution.

Ball in your court:

If your interested, please apply. Do not apply if your just speculating as to whether or not this is your
thing.
