FOREWORD
The 2008 Edition of the European Parliament of Enterprises
occasioned a great enthusiasm as it was the very first time when
the voice of the European business was heard in the European
Parliament.
Organized by EUROCHAMBRES that is the Association of
the European Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the EPE
represents a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to have a
direct debate with the European policy makers.
Our confidence in EPE is built on the belief that at the core
of all successful human progress lays the openness to dialogue,
partnership and initiative.
In this brochure we gathered abundant evidence of how
Romanian enterprises routed their way to performance, fast
growing development strategies and inspiring success stories.
Therefore, we are faithful that the Romanian companies
demarches shall properly echo the business concerns and shall
find their solution precisely at the source of the guiding rules they

Alro Slatina is a company with over 45 years of tradition in the

aluminium industry, at present member of Vimetco Group, the

Anticipating the start of the economic crisis in 2008 and ,as a con-
sequence of the cyclical character of the aluminum market, because
there were too many years with a high price for the aluminium, timely
Alro adopted an ambitious action plan and through a common effort
of all its employees managed to obtain the diminution of its impact on
the proper development of the activity.
Further to a retrofitting process Alum Tulcea has been re-started
and 650 persons were employed assuring the alumina needs for
ALRO at a competitive price.

One solution to contribute to an economic recovery process,

needed at present, is a creation of a special-task-force to iden-
tify and demolish any obstacles that prevent people of all ages
(especially youth) from receiving proficient and efficient help
to fulfill their business ideas or projects. In addition, the afore-
mentioned task-force should also be responsible to identify or
to invent methods, based on which Romania will be able to
use any European Union sponsoring funds and in range to the
amounts available.

The expectations of the printing experts for 2009 were much too
optimistic, as the decrease of the printing market has shown at the
end of the year. They were forecasting a decrease of only 10 per-
cent, while the reality brought a Romanian printing market with 35
percent smaller in 2009 than in 2008.

For 2010, the major players in the Romanian printing market pre-
dicted a stabilization of this business in the first half of the year
followed by a small growth starting in the second semester. Their
expectations were once again optimistic, as the real figures at the
middle of the year proved that stagnation is the best we can expect
for 2010.

The advertising experts expected a continuing decrease of this

market for 2010 (minus 5-10%), after a dramatic 2009 when the
market has collapsed to 30-40 percent of its previous value. Our cli-
ents budgets were indeed smaller in 2010, as their main focus was
to cut expenses at all levels. A big part of the advertising activities
was moved to the online environment, where projects are smaller
and still at a pioneering stage in Romania. Most of the clients are
lacking knowledge on online advertising, so they are unable to set
right expectations (objectives and budgets) and evaluate properly.

In Romania, SMEs represent 99.6% of all enterprises, gen-

erating most of the countrys GDP (about 70%). At EU level,
they represent 99% of all businesses and are the engine of the
European economy and European social model. Unfortunately,
because of the economic crisis, the collapse of the sector oc-
curred in the current period of economic crisis, SMEs being in
a vulnerable position and facing financial difficulties that could
be fatal.
Considering the EU strategy to promote entrepreneurship
and create a favourable business environment for SMEs I hope,
through participation of Romanian entrepreneurs in the sec-
ond edition of European Parliament of Enterprises to create
the premises of a coherent framework for SMEs, which place
them in the centre of European politics. It is vital that they
receive necessary support as they are the main source of em-
ployment growth and labour.

The culture of bees is a pleasant and clean craft deeply rooted in

the time eternity. In our family this passion has flourished four gen-
erations ago and my children may become the fifth with such trade.
My father, Fechete Etmond was my first teacher who talked to
me about the life of these beautiful insects the bees. Even today,
after 40 years of bees culture I consider being given the chance
to learn this craft along an experienced craftsman who also holds
warmth for bees to be very important. While I was fulfilling my
theoretical knowledge by reading all the dedicated books on the
market, I was also practicing by reaping the pollen, propolis, or
the royal jelly.
12 years ago I wrote down on the paper the first recipe of our
family and the subsequent year two others followed. All these syrups
were used within our family and those of our close friends.The re-
sults were considerable, therefore in 2006, based on the spur from
a very good friend I took up the undertakings for the certification
of this food supplement by the Ministry of Health:
