AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE FIREWORKS

WHEREAS, it is part of the culture and tradition of Ilonggos to use firecrackers and other
forms of pyrotechnic during celebrations and festivities;

WHEREAS, manufacturing and selling of firecrackers and pyrotechnic has become a

ulti-million industry in the City oflloilo;

WHEREAS, it provides source of livelihood to a considerate number of residents and

also provides revenue to the City oflloilo;

WHEREAS, the District of La Villa Rica de Arevalo is known as the firecracker and
pyrotechnic capital of the City of Iloilo;

WHEREAS, as a safety requirement the Local Government Unit is mandated by

Republic Act No. 7183 to design a zone where a manufacturing complex may be established for
such purpose;

WHEREAS, a study and report conducted by Palafox and Associates identified the area
in Barangay So-oc, Arevalo and Barangay Navais, Mandurriao as the ideal place for
manufacturing of firecrackers and pyrotechnic;

WHEREAS, the 2010-2020 Comprehensive Land Use Plan oflloilo City has defined and
identified Fireworks Manufacturing Zones in Barangay So-oc, Arevalo and Barangay Navais,
Mandurriao.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it enacted by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the City of Iloilo,

that:

Section 1. - Title. - This ordinance shall be known as the Establishment of the Fireworks
Manufacturing Zone in the City oflloilo.

Section 2. - Declaration. - The following lots shall be declared as the fireworks

manufacturing zone in the City oflloilo:

a) Lot No. 2675 located at Barangay So-oc, Arevalo

b) Lot Nos. 2300, 2303, 2304, 2384, 3025 and 3029 at Barangay Navais,
Mandurriao

Section 3. - Repealing Dause. - Provisions of the zoning ordinance and such other rules
and regulations or parts thereof issued by the City of Iloilo inconsistent with the provisions of
this ordinance are hereby repealed or modified accordingly.

Section 4. - Effectivity. - This ordinance shall take effect after its approval and posting in
three conspicuous places in the City oflloilo.
