Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in
your classroom: In this online project, the students go on the website and submit a story. The
website provides them with a character, a prop, and a place. The students from there have to
make up a story. When they are finished, they submit their story and they are entered into a
contest, people vote on the best story, and the winning story will be published on the internet. I
could use this in my classroom to meet the content standard above. The students would be
making up a story and writing about it. They would establish a situation, characters, an event
sequence, use dialogue, temporal words, and a sense of closure. By giving the students a set of
guidelines, they would have a very well developed story. They would have to copy and paste
their story to a word document when they finished and turn it into me for a grade. We would also
have a class vote on the best story of the class and who ever won would get to choose something
out of the treasure box and we would hang the story outside the classroom for all the students to
see.

b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or
producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): The students
would be posting their own original work to the website. They would be making up
a story based on the information they are given.
c. Higher-order thinking: The students would definitely be experiencing higher order
thinking skills. They would be creating a story from little information given.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product: The students are publishing their work on the website. Other people who
care about their work will go on the website and vote for the best story and then
the best story will be published on the internet nationwide.
